Saw onyx had errands to do. BEFORE DARK! I thought she will not make it as I looked at the darkened window here.
Then the truth of the time zone hit and I thought, I am so dumb! 3 hours, almost, she had to get back before dark.
We have pretty sunsets, but no twilight. The land is so flat that the sun sets and it is about 10 minutes to total darkness. Sometimes beautiful yellow and red streaks under the cloud cover make it a special pleasure.
We have an evening train heading North on the mainland. If the air is heavy and clouds low at the same time,it is a lovely sound as it blows its horn at each crossing, and the sound echoes across to the island.

I’ve lived in southern and northern CA, but I don’t recall that many flat locations. Especially up north — lots of hilly country.
