The hunt for exoplanets has been heating up in recent years. Since it began its mission in 2009, over four thousand exoplanet candidates discovered by the Kepler mission, several hundred of which have been confirmed to be Earth-like (i.e. terrestrial). And of these, some 216 planets have been shown to be both terrestrial and located within their parent stars habitable zone (aka. Goldilocks zone).

I think you are thinking of galaxies billions of light years away. So far the furthest exoplanet found is about 13,000 light years away. It is in our own galaxy which is about 100 to 180 thousand light years diameter so we haven’t even found a planet very far away here.

most of space travel in the next 50 to 100 years will probably be low earth orbit, not much farther than the so-called International Space Station.

A habitable planet a few light years away could be a threat. Send a couple of dozen nukes immediately to incinerate it. It’s the only way to be sure our solar system is safe.

Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space. Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Mars - yes. Venus no - 800 degrees on a nice day with constant sulfuric acid rain, not to mention the crushing atmospheric pressure.

Except that recent finds predate that era by many thousands of years while hinting at still far older origins. “Mankind, the species with amnesia” - Graham Hancock

Truth is stranger than fiction. Fiction has to be plausible, reality doesn’t.

I don't think we should go to Alpha Centauri. I've heard women there can kind of be a horses ass.
