Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell suggested Thursday that Republicans may lose their hold on the upper chamber of Congress in November, Politico reports.

Speaking to a civic group in Louisville, Kentucky, McConnell told his home state listeners "I may or may not be calling the shots next year," according to the Associated Press.

Republicans do not now have an effective Senate Majority because most of them are part of the Democrat Majority. Effectively, even if the Republicans were an opposition party their numerical majority is worthless without being 60 senators.

Many of the GOP ARE progressives.

The idea of an opposition party is a sham. It works to further the agenda of the establishment, regardless of which 'party' holds majority status. They call it compromise and making Washington work, when the only real beneficiaries are the establishment and their cronies who controls Washington.

A real opposition party does not exist. They make noise for the media mics/cameras and then continue with the establishment agenda.

Not like the eGOP has done anything with the Senate that they promised to do.

Ted Cruz: Give us the Senate and we will repeal ObamaCare! We did, they didn’t.

Will the GOP notice the difference in the numbers for Trump in a state and the numbers for a down ballot candidate?

I don’t like Hitlery a lot more than I don’t like Trump. I learned my lesson in ‘92.

Kirk is a POS. Maybe Duckworth won’t be the Bolshie she is when Trump is President.

I feel pretty certain the GOP is going to track the Trump vote vs the down-ballot response. They have to even out of their own morbid curiosity. What they do with it is the key. But knowing these GOP Rinos, all they know is capitulation to Democrats. They’ll still end up doubling down on their quisling RINO crap even though the numbers will be there to show them their work has been measured and come up pathetically wanting.

the way the senate goes so goes the supreme court

Actually its "the way the Presidency goes so goes the Supreme Court."

The President gets to appoint the Supreme Court judges. If Trump is elected he'll get to appoint judges that he selects. The Senate may try to hold up the process, but sooner or later they'll have to approve someone he nominates. To do otherwise would set a precedent for the future that even the most stalwart liberals would not want to have.

Having a majority of real Republicans in the Senate would be great, but the current crew hasn't shown themselves to be reliable, or really able to do much of anything.

We just got our ballots and will vote Ward, but I will hold my nose and vote McCain and just pray we don’t need his vote to oppose Hillary’s Scotus nominees. If we loose both the WH and the Senate the country is finished. Then I may wished that I joined my son in Australia. Short of CWII we won’t get it back.

Republicans are fighting Trump harder than they’ve ever fought for anything ever.

That bears repeating - the Republicans who sat silently for years, unwilling to even criticize their Democratic opponents, are suddenly out attacking Trump every time they are in front of a microphone.

People like Mitt Romney are working harder against Trump than they ever did against Obama or Hillary. The same thing is true for a number of senators.

Why does someone like Kelly Ayotte think New Hampshire conservatives should support her if she can't be bothered to support our Republican presidential candidate?

Come on, Mitch! Everybody knows that doddering old Nevada Crap-Weasel Harry Reid still controls the Senate.

Other than sessions I am beginning to think there are no true conservatives left in the Roman Senate. Lee and Cruz have been great disappointments in their suicidal support for Hillihag.

Loss of the Senate is totally on the Republicans in the Senate, they have been shown for the liberal liars and cowards they are, and they outed themselves.

Lee is showing, very sadly, that Mormonism indeed supercedes everything else.

Cruz already showed that personal ambition for him supeceded the Constitution.

GOP will lose at least two for sure: Kirk (IL) and Ayotte (NH). McCain will lose his primary, but Ward will win the general.

mcconnell is such a poor baby. My heart goes out to him. Just because he is a DIM-lite traitor to his electorate, a traitor to his oath of office and a traitor to the country, why should I care? I hope the gope rots...the Whigs of the 21st century.

Good.

Did you think that there would be no “backlash” to your total and complete failure, Mitch?

But hey, at least you proved that you can govern or whatever.

Grats.

Yeah Mitch? The funny (or rather, sad) thing is, no one will be able to tell the difference, you spineless, rino sh*tbag.
