AP: Paul Ryan wins primary
WISN-TV ^ | 8/9/2016 | Associated Press

Posted on 08/09/2016 6:44:05 PM PDT by Kevin C

House Speaker Paul Ryan wins primary, defeats longshot GOP challenger praised by Donald Trump.

Ryan was being challenged by Paul Nehlen.

Nehlen had been courting Trump supporters and won praise from the Republican presidential nominee last week. But Trump endorsed Ryan days later.

Ryan had largely ignored Nehlen in what had been a sleepy primary before Trump thanked Nehlen on Twitter for his comments defending Trump. Nehlen won the backing of some prominent conservative figures, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, but it wasn't enough to overcome Ryan's popularity in his southeastern Wisconsin district.

Ryan was first elected in 1998 and this is his first re-election win since becoming speaker last fall.

Clearly he is a safe district.

Doesn't mean that he can't lose if the Democrat gets some Republican votes.

You must be one of his constituents in Wi CD1 and everything is going swimmingly for you, right?

These open borders, cheap labor policies putting money in your pocket? Must be.

>>Maybe he can knocked off in the General.<<

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I would be satisfied with booting him as Speaker.

Jeb Hensarling is my choice. Brilliant, highly articulate Trump supporter who know the financial system issues inside and out.

If Ryan wins 84% to 16% for Nehlen, this race was never in the cards.

The power of incumbents is overwhelming. Ousting an incumbent is extremely difficult and far too many good people are not willing to get into the fray and we are left with incompetent incumbents.

Sad that it turned out this way. But we should not despair and continue to help those who are willing to spend their time and energy to bring back some sanity.

Nehlen didn’t run much of a race.

Anyone who voted for this punk, please recuse yourself from the Republican party.

Uh, he got 85% of the vote in a Republican primary. Maybe his voters aren't the ones who should consider leaving the party.

"Ok, time to spend some money on Ryan’s Democratic challenger."

First, the GOP must die.

Everything else comes after that.

Vote for the Democrat in Wisconsin 1st. Send him money.

Doesn't mean that he can't lose if the Democrat gets some Republican votes.

In 2014, he beat his democratic challenger 66 to 33%.

Give it up.

This sucks. I would have loved to see Ryan ousted , getting rid of the GOPe influence in Congress.

But he could have been removed as Speaker at any time. Then he would be just one of 435 members of the House. He has power because the Republican caucus gives him power.
He’s third in line to be president.

Can you really separate the two? Not from where I sit but I’m not in his district.

About as good as he could’ve, considering he was running up against the huge OpenBorders/Soros$$ machine.

Gee, I guess there is no reason to have an election then!

The Democrats shouldn't even put a candidate.

Do you think that some of the votes he got were Tea Partiers who now see him for what he is, a traitor?

Trump gets elected and that little punk will fold like a cheap lawn chair. If he even farts without asking, Trump will come down on him like ugly on a ape.

Trump will rule them all and they know it. All he has to do is go to the public and explain how the bastards are stopping his agenda to get this country going again.
