House Speaker Paul Ryan wins primary, defeats longshot GOP challenger praised by Donald Trump.
Ryan was being challenged by Paul Nehlen.
Nehlen had been courting Trump supporters and won praise from the Republican presidential nominee last week. But Trump endorsed Ryan days later.
Ryan had largely ignored Nehlen in what had been a sleepy primary before Trump thanked Nehlen on Twitter for his comments defending Trump. Nehlen won the backing of some prominent conservative figures, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, but it wasn't enough to overcome Ryan's popularity in his southeastern Wisconsin district.
Ryan was first elected in 1998 and this is his first re-election win since becoming speaker last fall.
“The voters of Congressional District 1 had NOTHING to do with it.”

Well, he was trained by Jack French Kemp, who was always talking about “our liberal friends”.
Well, of course the American people are and have nearly always been out of touch. It takes work to study politics, and the American people are sitting it out.

I like to believe, though, that Jack Kemp was not interested in building a corporatist “New World Order” and linking big business, big banks and big government into one entity.

Nehlen appears to have not had very many supporters based on the results of this primary...even if 100% of them voted Dem it wouldn't put much of a dent in Ryan's support...not sure what you base this on.
