LIVE THREAD: Ryan vs Nehlen Wisconsin 1st Congressional District Primary 8/09/2016
WisPolitics.com ^

Posted on 08/09/2016 9:50:32 AM PDT by nikos1121

1st CD, Republican: Incumbent Paul Ryan, of Janesville, and Paul Nehlen, of Williams Bay.

I absolutely have nothing on this election, so I thought I'd start a thread, and we can add to it as information comes in. Some polls have Ryan way ahead, and a few find it less certain. On the other hand, wasn't this the climate before the Cantor election? He was sitting fat dumb and happy with a big lead in the polls?

If I were a betting man, I'd have to put my money on Ryan and by all counts, he's a very popular guy up there, but then again, so is Obama.

So you’re cool with Ryan’s performance? I’ll have to remember that.

Sounds like you’re not even for Trump as you are obviosuly on board with RINO Ryan. What exactly IS your objective here? You do know this isn’t a RINO or GOP site right?

People need to vote him out as speaker. It’s our respondibility.

Why would Ryan go to Trump’s rally? Trump had just sent a “shout out” to Ryan’s primary opponent and then delivered a “witty” insult that he (Trump) wasn’t “there” yet in endorsing the sitting Speaker of the House.

Ryan wasn’t going to show up at the rally to give Trump another chance to go off script to insult him again.

You take umbrage as if Paul Ryan hasn’t been going “off script” endlessly for months smearing Trump as a Grand Wizard of the KKK and worse.

The fact is the highest ranking elected Republican in the country snubbed his party’s nominee on his visit to his state. It was made clear Trump intended to formally endorse Ryan, McCain and Ayotte. There was every reason to make this a party unity event and yet Paul Ryan selfishly declined. That bell can’t be unrung.

Following that snub of Trump, Ryan didn’t even have the courtesy to personally acknowledge Trump’s endorsement. Instead allowing his press flunky to make a statement.

Paul Ryan is a petty and small man, that much is clear. He is unfit to lead his party and country.

Trump needs to speak out strongly against this rigged election. If he doesn’t, I would have to question if the GOPe has gotten to Trump.

Wait... are you saying someone who is is running a 1 person lawn service company is not a business? Until 9 months ago, my lawn service was 1 person, me... now with my parents’ help, I hire 3 people... my brother and 2 of my friends. I needed help with my ‘non-business’...

Its the Republican Caucus in the House of Representatves’ responsibility. They elected him 236-10. They can hold another vote at any time to remove him as Speaker.

A “Dave Brat” caliber guy could have given Ryan a run for his money. Nehlen was not even close to that guy.

Nonsense. Brat wasn’t running against a Gold Child Speaker. Nehlen was. I have to BOL at all the smears of Nehlen given Amnesty Ryan and his war chest of ill gotten gain.

You do have a good point.

I blame the 236 GOP hacks for electing this amnesty pimp
for making him speaker.
They are responsible.

Brookfield Waukesha County
Avg. Net Worth: $351,874
Average Household Income: $126,175
Median Disposable Income: $67,839
Average Home Value: $335,602
Population: 22,043
Number of Households: 8,712

I know that’s not the whole district, but for people like that, illegal immigration, open borders, jobs moving to Mexico doesn’t touch them. For them, the market is up, things are great.

With all due respect, I think you are stereotyping and incorrect in your assumptions. The entire district has a population of 710,310, so Brookfield, as the most affluent in the district, is a small slice.

I lived in the First Congressional District of WI for over 10 years and was very active in politics, so I know something about the area...Beloit and Janesville have lost much industry as has Kenosha. They are working hard to come back. People are affected. Those communities don’t have the affluence of Brookfield.

Tho I did not live in Brookfield and cannot speak for them, I now live in an area much like Brookfield, only a much larger suburb and far more affluent in terms of income and home value...even our town has lost industry/jobs, people are nervous about their jobs, home values are down from their highs, and my friends have commented about how many more “foreigners” there seem to be everywhere....Oh, and tho “Markets” are not tanking, they have not moved much in past 2 years...

Just not sure you are painting an accurate picture.

tough nite in CT. Lefties win big. I count a few races where the progressive failed.

Connecticut
12 races

Bridgeport: the progressive, LGBT candidate won 3 of the 4 DEM primaries.
NewLondon: Young progressive beats incoumbent old progressive by 2 to 1. Not good.
Hamden: Bernie! challenger beats endorsed DEM
Bristol: Bernie! challenger is crushed by 4 to 1
NewBritain: Bernie! challenger is easily beaten by incumbent
Stamford: Young lawyer, Obama organizer challenges incumbent and loses. Good.
West Haven: “almost pro-family” DEM incumbent lost by 30 votes to Progressive youngster. BAD
Shelton: pro-LGBT GOP incumbent easily beats challenge. 90% of vote

Winsted: GOP incumbent ... easy victory over former DEM

Nehlen is not a small business owner. His “business” exists on paper only. It has no products or services available to the public. He has never made a sale, hired an employee, etc. He has never filed any tax statements or maintained the required paperwork necessary to keep his “business” legally active. In short, he’s a fraud.

So glad Nehlen was destroyed tonight!!!
=============================================+

“SO GLAD NEHLEN WAS DESTROYED TONIGHT!!!” Wow...

OH, YOU are one of the few pro-Ryan Freepers mentioned earlier in the thread...and here I did not believe there could possibly be some, yet here you are...Thrilled Ryan won...Bob, why are you even here?!?!?\ You are a RHINO if you support Ryan...Worse, Ryan supports cheap labor, open borders, amnesty, more spending, and so on...He is a globalist uniparty GOPE hack...Sheesh have you learned nothing here?

Your accusations regarding Nehlen are false too...As per Wiki-(and not WISN1130 attack (aka pro-Ryan) media) OH and just because a business does not sell to the public does not mean it is not a business...Sheesh!!!!

Paul F. Nehlen III[2] (pronounced “Nelen”; born May 9, 1969),[2] is a Wisconsin businessman, inventor,[3][4] pro bono consultant, and author[5] who is challenging the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Paul Ryan of Janesville, in Wisconsin’s 1st congressional district Republican primary election on August 9, 2016.[6] Nehlen was born and raised in Ohio. He has been a Wisconsin resident since 2014.[1]

Nehlen has held management positions in both foreign and domestic companies. He relocated to Delavan, Wisconsin, in March 2014. Nehlen serves as senior vice president of operations for Neptune-Benson, Inc., a subsidiary of Evoqua Water Technologies,[7] which is located in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.[8]

They have done 15,000+ installations...

http://www.neptunebenson.com/about-us/

His Website:
Paul Nehlen (Paul F. Nehlen III) is a Wisconsin executive, entrepreneur, and inventor. He has extensive leadership and operational experience in manufacturing and industry, as well as a record of restoring jobs to the American economy.

Currently, Mr. Nehlen serves as senior vice president of operations for a company that leads the industry in water filtration and disinfection technologies. In that role, he oversees all facets of the organization’s engineering, new product development, production, supply chain, business development, and acquisitions. During his tenure with the company, Nehlen relocated manufacturing operations and jobs previously based in Canada to the eastern seaboard of the United States. Additionally, under his leadership, several of the company’s product lines and jobs were moved to Wisconsin.

Mr. Nehlen has likewise established his own small business in Wisconsin. Blue Skies Global LLC leverages key networks and technologies on behalf of the companies with which it partners, in order to ensure that they can deliver outstanding, cost-effective engineered products and projects.

As an inventor, Mr. Nehlen holds several patents both in the United States and abroad and has others pending. Two of those patents relate to the design of tube sheets, a subcomponent of various pieces of engineered industrial equipment. Where most tube sheets are comprised of a single, thick sheet, Nehlen’s designs call for innovative, stacked thinner sheets of metal. Stacking creates zones that wouldn’t have existed otherwise, tasking the various regions for filtration, flow control, shock absorption, magnetic characteristics, ion exchange, dosing, chemical or medical treatment, or other purposes. One of Mr. Nehlen’s tube sheets has applications in water filtration. Mr. Nehlen also holds the patent on a strainer and control system that has implications for worker safety. Some of Mr. Nehlen’s patents also lend themselves to additive manufacturing technologies, of which 3D printing is but one example.

Previously, Mr. Nehlen was a division president at the Georgia-based company TydenBrooks, where he managed the 80 percent relocation of a Mexico-based factory back to the U.S. Prior to TydenBrooks, he worked his way from the shop floor through middle management and all the way to executive leadership at SPX Corporation. Nehlen’s roles with SPX took him to a variety of states, including Wisconsin, as well as to international locations.

Since 2013, Mr. Nehlen has served as an advisory board member for Operation Homefront, a Wisconsin non-profit organization with a strong record of bringing direct financial assistance to the families of active duty service members.

Mr. Nehlen and his wife Gabriela make their home in Delavan, WI.

SORRY SIDESHOW NEHLEN WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT ADDITION TO THE HOUSE...I am saddened that you are “so glad he was DESTROYED” Again, Sideshow, why are you even here?

As an aside, were you a Cruzer?

Ryan was by far the more profession Statesman in that debate. Biden was near psychotic in his condescending unprofessional demeanor. This is what I remember

I wish I could agree with you. Ryan was supposed to crush Biden with facts. But he was crushed. Totally.

I didn't see a statesman, I saw a scared little boy in way over his head.

Biden being awful doesn't explain away Ryan's inability to stand up and fight back.

Anyway, that's how I remember it.

I didn’t post it...Rev. Wright did...Brookfield is not representative of Kenosha, Janesville, Beloit, etc. I assumed Wright knew about which he was talking...and a portion had redistricted...Apparently it is still all District 5.

The "Paul Ryan wins primary" thread is full of suggestions that we contribute to the Democrat running against Ryan.

Not me.

Not ever.
