1st CD, Republican: Incumbent Paul Ryan, of Janesville, and Paul Nehlen, of Williams Bay.
I absolutely have nothing on this election, so I thought I'd start a thread, and we can add to it as information comes in. Some polls have Ryan way ahead, and a few find it less certain. On the other hand, wasn't this the climate before the Cantor election? He was sitting fat dumb and happy with a big lead in the polls?
If I were a betting man, I'd have to put my money on Ryan and by all counts, he's a very popular guy up there, but then again, so is Obama.
Immediately thereafter, Cantor accepted a position as vice chairman of investment bank Moelis & Company at a compensation of $3.4 million.[3] As the US House majority leader, Cantor earned an annual salary of $193,400.
Seems like hes doing well.

I know that’s not the whole district, but for people like that, illegal immigration, open borders, jobs moving to Mexico doesn’t touch them. For them, the market is up, things are great.
Good point, the majority love the 20 trillion in debt, they could care less. That’s how we got here in the first place.
So you think this corrupt globalist hack is a Conservative? Just because his constituency doesn’t pay attention doesn’t mean he’s a good guy. Paul Ryan is not a good guy and he is certainly not looking out for America. Its just a shame he got reelected and will continue to push his destructive policies. His day will come. Just like Cantor.
Where was your Saint Paul when Kate was laying dead in a street murdered by a criminal alien in a sanctuary city?
Great example of what I am saying. Thanks for proving my point.
Unfortunately you do not have to be knowledgeable, take an IQ test, be self supporting or own property to be able to vote.
I guess in the eyes of many here that makes me not conservative. So be it.
Get over it Cruz lost. Remember Rules are Rules only until they are not.
I personally would vote against both McCain and Ryan in the primary if they had more conservative opponents, but I for damn sure would vote for either one over any Democrat.
Nehlen 3,483 or 15%
Just a WAG but this may be why Trump pro forma endorsed Ryan on the night Ryan publicly snubbed him.
Trump should have said that people in that District should "vote their conscience".
The lesson of this is the same as the lesson of Todd Akin, Sharon Angle and Christine O’Donnell. You have to run a good candidate.
Don’t confuse legit criticism of Paul Ryan with the fact Paul Nehlen was a terrible candidate. He hid his background, moved here (WI) from out of state and his bio was a fraud. All that got exposed over and over here locally even though the Breitbarts of the world didn’t say a word about it to a national audience.
A “Dave Brat” caliber guy could have given Ryan a run for his money. Nehlen was not even close to that guy.
This foreshadows a concern now with Trump. You’ve got to get enough people to support you plus the anti Hillary vote. The anti Hillary vote alone isn’t going to carry us in November folks. Trump has to start playing smarter.
No love for Ryan, had no issue if he lost tonight. But that doesn't mean rewriting history. Ryan was by far the more profession Statesman in that debate. Biden was near psychotic in his condescending unprofessional demeanor. This is what I remember
“I have gone to several of Ryans townhall meetings. He has great ideas. None of which will get passed if we have democrat majorities or Obama or Hillary as president.”
Good Lord, he’s the majority leader! All talk, just like his other Rino friends.
What you remember is accurate, but the American people saw it as victory for Biden.
but these same 700k constituents whom Ryan represents don’t watch the news? At all? Do they not frequent sites like Free Republic and see that Ryan is not the “conservative” they’d like to believe he is? How are these people so out of touch with reality? Are they in their own “bubble” like that if Washington DC? Are they not aware that he gave Obama carte blanche on Obamatrade and even Obama was laughing smugly saying “Ryan gave us more than what we asked for”. Are these constituents oblivious to all this and they are content in their little bubble in WI? Talk about being selfish and STUPID!
The visual you described is better than an actual painting. Just for your effort, I hope Nehlen wins.
Trump has nothing to do with the selection of Speaker of the House. That is solely the prerogative of the republican members of the House.
So glad Nehlen was destroyed tonight!!!
Ryan wasn't going to show up at the rally to give Trump another chance to go off script to insult him again.
I hope you are not referring to the budget lies that even the liberals ran away from.
Your attitude sounds just like the rationalization we need to get rid of that shot us in the foot in 2008 and in 2012 and hopefully not in 2016. We need to fight both the GOP and the Democrats and as improbable as it sounds we need to beat the RINOs out of the GOP first.
