1st CD, Republican: Incumbent Paul Ryan, of Janesville, and Paul Nehlen, of Williams Bay.
I absolutely have nothing on this election, so I thought I'd start a thread, and we can add to it as information comes in. Some polls have Ryan way ahead, and a few find it less certain. On the other hand, wasn't this the climate before the Cantor election? He was sitting fat dumb and happy with a big lead in the polls?
If I were a betting man, I'd have to put my money on Ryan and by all counts, he's a very popular guy up there, but then again, so is Obama.
Yup. Worse :o{

You spend the first half of your post extolling the virtues of Scott Walker, then try to use that as a jumping off point for supporting Ryan. Nice slight of hand, but Walker and Ryan are two separate issues. Walker has indeed done much good for Wisconsin but as a national candidate for President, he had no ideas. He repeatedly flip-flopped on immigration issues and was clearly bought and paid for by those funding his campaign.
As far as Ryan is concerned, the falsity of claims that he is conservative is there for all to see in his record. He has also done everything he can to sabotage Trump’s candidacy, a candidate who, on an issue by issue basis, is easily more conservative than Ryan. If you think open borders, amnesty, sanctuary cities, and budgets that have given Obama everything he wants, including continued funding of Obamacare, then you clearly don’t belong here.
Ryan was overlooked and folks let his voting record slide. He should have never been held in any esteem. He is the example of what a modern Republican politician is.
Supported the auto bailouts. TARP. No Child Left Behind. Medicare Part D. etc.

Neylen was all over and not very clear. Did not leave a good impression. Argued with host and as opposed to answering questions. Then tried to talk over host.
Only position was against TPP and corp graft. He was only in district 2 years. Does not appear to be supported by local residents. Outside donor money.
Thanks.
You think for one second lying Ryan is only funded by the voters in his district. Lying Ryan is the epitome of evil. He strips clean bare American citizens in the name of ‘social justice’. Voting ‘for’ lying Ryan is NOT Godly or good. I am thankful the only record that counts is the one God takes and keeps!!!
Well the Tea Party was a joke. You could see it within one year when folks became divided over agenda. Just rounding up people who disliked the left was never enough. Where the division is at, in 2016, can be exemplified by three related things. Trump vs. Cruz which ultimately became about anti globalism/ securing our country vs. open borders and free trade and globalism. There was deep distrust between Cruz and Trump supporters by last October. It highlighted a distrust in politicians as some people saw the ills of Cruz and some people just questioned everything Trump did or said.
And lastly those who are unsure who is conservative anymore. The label is badgered as the Trump/Palin “side”, if you will, considers itself conservative and the Cruz/Ryan “side” considers itself conservative.
So there is a lot of confused conservatives who have lost it sometime back when they were mislead into thinking Cruz and Ryan were good politicians.
Therefore:
1. Trump vs. Cruz was the latest examples of division in the conservative movement.
2.There are fakes who are supporting globalism and Trump vs. Cruz highlighted that as the globalists began to endorse Cruz and his stances on issues.
3.People got confused. And so now the conservative movement is split with everyone claiming to be conservative but disliking each other. So people supporting Never Trump and pro Cruz/Ryan are being mislead.
Correction:
And lastly there are those who are unsure who is conservative anymore. The label is badgered as the Trump/Palin “side”, if you will, considers itself conservative and the Cruz/Ryan “side” considers itself conservative.
Cruz is as “conservative” as his uncle Lee Harvey Oswald.
OR the ObamaTRADE the scum RAT Cruz voted to permit.
Nice link. Seriously. But I can’t seem to tell where it shows he screws veterans at every turn. Even opening some of the bills and looking at the data there doesn’t seem to help. Can you elaborate?
How rabid is too rabid? Rabidity in the defense of liberty is no vice. Go, TRUMP, GO!! FUHC!! FUNTT (FReep You NeverTrumper traitors)!!
Not long ago, Ryan was a tea party darling, and also a Freeper favorite - well, as much as Freepers like politicians not named “Reagan”.
Not many days ago Amnesty Ryan, the highest ranking elected Republican in the nation, embarrassed the great state of Wisconsin and publicly snubbed the GOP nominee’s rally in his state. There apparently is no issue, big or small, that supporters of Golden Child Ryan will overlook to continue marching behind him and his anti-American progressive agenda.
Trump has removed the masks.
I thought everyone was for Nehlen. The Wisconsinites I have spoken to seem to be. I was surprised how many on FR still back Ryan over Nehlen. Weird
Great example of what I am saying. Thanks for proving my point.
I can assure you there are millions of Trump voters, smeared by Paul Ryan as supporting a grand wizard of the KKK, who will never vote him. Amnesty Paul Ryan will never win the GOP primary or win national office. But feel free to continue your delusions and worship of beltway careerist Paul Ryan. As they say, ignorance is bliss.
Are these folks showing up on Nehlen’s threads?
Ryan has always been very popular in his district, even more so after he was picked for VP and then after he became Speaker. He’s a mirror image of his constituency - 90% of which are White and nearly 60% of whom work in white-collar jobs. His district is the one that has always come through with a boatload of votes to keep Gov. Walker in office when he was under threat and to support conservative WI supreme court judges who would have undone Walkers reforms.
Facts ignored by FReepers who wish for an unlikely outcome.
I have serious concerns about Ryan. I could not vote in his district. I am concerned about the leadership and weak knee Republicans.
Nehlen got 90% from outside sources and Ryan got 60% ( and that is because he is speaker).
I do not believe that Nehlen will win.
I agree that the final judgement is the important one.
