Vu will be on the November ballot as an elector – a constitutionally mandated stand-in for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Should Trump take Georgia, Vu will be one of 16 Georgia members of the electoral college who will formally decide the U.S. presidential contest.
Vu has just put out a statement saying that he cannot bring himself to vote for Trump in the November general election. And he might not vote for Trump as a member of the electoral college, either.

It is not “a lie.” Electors are not bound to vote for anyone. Normally electors are chosen by the party and nominee and those two are not fighting each other in August.
So, if on Thanksgiving the President-Elect rapes a nun and strangles a puppy, the electors have no choice but to vote for him in the election in December?
Vu's motives are not avoiding factionalism or anything which the framers might have envisioned as an ideal. They are a play for attention.

Sorry that you find the logic of the Framers “ludicrous.” The electors are real people so that they can exercise real judgment.

Who are “they”? Rhetorical question. For whoever “they” are, have been undermining the process for longer than “we” care to remember.
At least they printed his whole name and ran a picture of him.
He is the only one with guts to come out in public and say this, there will be a ton of defectors from the electors, I don’t know what we can do about it.
