So, under your theory of “self-made men”, pretty much anyone who started with $40,000,000 could parlay that by a factor of 100 into $4.5 billion net worth?

All you gotta do is put a substantial amount of your winnings in an IRA. Don’t splurge on houses, cars, or other toys. Pay off your debts, live in a cheap duplex or something somewhere. Get a part time job, maybe 10-20 hours a week and use that for pocket cash. Save the millions.
From “Art of the Deal” you learn that while he was at Wharton he found a huge under-occupied apartment complex that he and his father bought. They spruced it up and had 100% occupancy within months. They sold to a REIT for millions in profit when one of the long-time tenants warned Trump that the neighborhood was going bad. Made millions before he even finished Wharton, and the neighborhood did indeed go bad.
Haven’t watched, or seen, these fools in over two years. How far they have fallen.

Using the "self made billionaire" meme just makes him seem out of touch like the msm portrayed Romney.
I know folks that I would call self made millionaires. They literally started out of their garage with a pickup truck.
I know another person that, like Trump, comes from a very wealthy family, got a first rate education, inherited a lot of money and has grown it many times over.
He has said "you hire the smartest people that you can find to make you money".
I'm sure Trump would agree.
It's also hard to do if you don't have money to start with.

He had an awful lot of experienced people head out the door. Joel Cheatwood is an extremely competent media executive. As the boss, it was his job to set incentives related to his goals. When you start letting lawyers drive the train, it’s over.
