Trump says he may let Russia keep Crimea
CBS ^ | July 31, 2016 | Emily Schultheis

Donald Trump has come under fire for his praise of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his ties to the country--and he suggested Sunday that he might recognize Russia's control of Crimea.

"You know, the people of Crimea, from what I've heard, would rather be with Russia than where they were," he said on ABC's "This Week." "And you have to look at that, also. Now, that was under -- just so you understand, that was done under Obama's administration. ... Crimea has been taken. Don't blame Donald Trump for that."

Trump made those comments just after saying Putin is "not going into Ukraine."

"Well, look, you know, I have my own ideas. He's not going into Ukraine, OK?" Trump said of Putin. "Just so you understand. He's not going to go into Ukraine, all right? You can mark it down and you can put it down, you can take it anywhere you want."

There is a reason the majority of people of Crimea do not want to be part of Ukraine and its “democratic” government

The same can be said about regions of Russia. Shall we apply the “Crimea doctrine” there too? Russia isn’t called the Prison Of Nations for nothin’.

“Let me spell this out for you:”

Let me spell something out for you: I mentioned that you’re short a hyphen. You responded by blowing the whole thing up all out of proportion, and have ended up spraying poison in all directions like some Benzedrine puff adder.

I’ve made some reasoned arguments about the importance of using language properly, and you...well, just look at your last note.

Really? What kind of precedent does that set for the former Soviet Republics? Remember Sudetenland and Hitler?

I guess if Southern California decided join Mexico, you would be cool with that.

A more proper anology from Crimea is Mexicans arriving from Mexico City to murder your neighbors in Southern California. That’s exactly what happened in Ukraine when Russians arrived from Moscow and started their mass murder that has now claimed over 10,000 lives.

Unfortunately, checker playing Freeper Putinints can’t see where Russian fascism takes us.

Your post is excellent.

I would only add, that the alternative to Russia having the Crimea, is that Turkey takes over, as they are poised to do. That would mean, in turn, that ISIS has a new base, right on the edge of Europe.

Right now, I’m much more worried about Erdogan that I am Putin.

Putin invades Europe, everybody will be against him.

If Erdogan invades, EVERY Muslim in Europe will support him.

Huh? Why is that the only option? It was part of Ukraine before the Russian invasion. It can be part of Ukraine again.

That would mean, in turn, that ISIS has a new base, right on the edge of Europe.

I think you don't know what ISIS is if you think that Turkey and ISIS are indistinguishable.

Half of the Muslims in Turkey don't support Erdogan. Most of the Muslims in Syria don't. What makes you think that European Muslims - who are mostly non-Turks - have any great affection for Erdogan?

Also, Erdogan invading Europe? Where? How? He’s going to conquer Bulgaria and Greece? Gimme a break.

A lot of Germans deep down didn’t care for Hitler. Until he defeated France...Then he became a God to them.

Let me spell something out for you: I mentioned that you’re short a hyphen.

It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. YOU are short of common sense.

You responded by blowing the whole thing up all out of proportion, and have ended up spraying poison in all directions like some Benzedrine puff adder.

Physician heal thyself. You seized on this imaginary issue like a depraved puppy with a broken squeaky toy.

I’ve made some reasoned arguments about the importance of using language properly, and you...well, just look at your last note.

Your 'reasoned arguments' don't mean a damn thing.

Go find something more important to worry about, i.e. - one last time:

GET A LIFE

False. In 1934, 6 years before the fall of France, 88% of Germans voted to give Hitler essentially unlimited power.

Because many knew it’d be a one-way trip to Dachau if they didn’t vote for Hitler.

The only thing that changed with Crimea was its official status. Russian control preceded the event and they were never ever under any circumstances going to give up their primary warm-water naval port.

People who had a problem with Russians in Crimea fall into three categories:

1) the extremely naive and/or ignorant
2) Westerners acting in bad faith for propaganda purposes
3) Ukrainian Fascists

History is most fun when you can re-order events to support revisionist fantasies.

I think you don't know what ISIS is if you think that Turkey and ISIS are indistinguishable.

It is noticeable that ISIS always comes down from the north - into Syria and Iraq. Where, then are their supply lines?

It was flagrant that when the US tried to set up its face-saving coalition to fight ISIS, that Turkey refused to participate. They have an army with thousands of tanks, but sent precisely none to combat ISIS, right near their own border. The official reason, was because the Kurds were a greater danger.

Well that's some revisionism if ever I saw it. Hitler was overwhelmingly popular. Before the war. During the war. Up until the last year or so, even after it became blindingly obvious that Germany was gonna lose.

Do I support Russian aggression against Ukraine? No. Is it our problem though? Also no. Let Europe defend itself.
