In hot weather (80+ deg F) germs will grow much faster on moist food. May be that is why southerners rather be safe than sorry. I always use toaster oven to warm left over food. Microwave will make meat rubbery when re-heated. And regular oven will dry it out.

My sister-in-law watched children for years and was always having to fix different foods all day. She swore by the Pazzazz Plus by Presto. (rotating oven) I honestly blew it off for several years and then bought one with 30% off at Kohl's.
We use it every day!

I agree about the microwave... I never use it for reheating. Sometime I reheat sandwiches in the panini press (depending on contents of course!)...
