Cook County taxpayers are outraged after property tax bills showed up in the mail. The bills are skyrocketing this year.
The city of Chicago and its public school district's fiscal problems literally hit home over the weekend, when property owners saw their second installment tax bills.
Outside the assessor's office, city homeowners told one property tax horror story after another.

They’re gonna for Hillary in November.
Shaddup, quit whining and pay your bill.
You get what you deserve.
The property tax bills are already outrageous. That’s why I moved out of state, seven years ago.
How much worse can it get?

Welcome to democratic reality.
Just where do these morons think the government gets its money from.
They laud Canada for it’s free everything and forget the VAT they have to pay.
Whenever I go to Canada, I ALWAYS go with a full tank of gas and any spare Canadian change I happen to have picked up along the way.
Serves them right for electing corrupt democrats for the past 40 years.
Just a little wealth redistribution.
Chicago will wind up like Detroit where Chicago will have a lot of empty houses on its hand and still be in the hole pension wise.
I love it when democrats and socialists get slapped in the face with democrat policies and socialism...
No problem. Republican property owners will use Madigan’s law firm to help avoid paying the property taxes, and the low information voters will bend over and pay. Done. No problem. See how this works? Illinois is not broke, it’s FIXED.
Yeah sure, the government giving away free stuff to people may sound really good, until you have to start fiooting the bill for it. As you said, you voted for this crook, Chicgoans. Shut up and send in your checks.
Homeowners who can no longer afford their property taxes will put their homes on the market which will drive down the prices in the housing market...
which in turn lower values and decrease total tax revenue...
Solution...raise milage rates...
That will fix the problem / S
Me too. I still miss the restaurants and the lake but I don't miss the taxes. Most of the people I knew there have also left, though fled is a better adjective.
I keep this link handy for just such stories.
Exactly. The sheep who live in these Dem-dominated Hellholes never seem to understand that when they vote for Dems because the Dems promise them free stuff, they eventually will be paying for it.
Well, Some body has to pay for all that free Shiite.
Just go’s to pros that even though you don’t own a dime on your home it’s still not truley yours.
The state and the local municipality actually own it.Your just renting.
Not even close!
The owner of a single-family home with the current average sale price of about $225,000 can expect to see a property tax bill of $3,633, an increase of about $413.

Just a few miles down the road in DuPage My $300,000 (?Zillow) house, I pay OVER $7,000 !!!
THEY CAN CRY ME A RIVER.
“”when property owners saw their second installment tax bills.””
What a goofy county! It’s the second installment bill and it’s not the same as the first installment?
Wait a minute. I thought all those fat government worker pensions were paid for by unicorns and rainbows. Where did I go wrong?
Understandable sailor,
In Florida you can sail most of the year, in Chicago, not so much.
Here, no income tax.
I fled California decades ago for much the same reasons.
