Michelle Obama went as low-key as Melania Trump had gone high-style, choosing to deliver her convention speech in a cobalt-blue silk crepe A-line dress with cap sleeves.
The dress, custom-made by New York-based designer Christian Siriano, who shot to fame after winning the fourth season of Project Runway in 2008, fell to just below the knee and was paired with a pair of metallic heels that industry trade publication Footwear News identifies as Jimmy Choo pumps.

It was a very nice little dress; but Ivanka had the figure for it. The best dress in the world won’t look good on a woman unless it’s suited to her body; and if she’s not got a nicely proportioned figure, she needs to create one somehow.
Back in the 1950s, my father had a friend who made undergarments for women in Washington, D.C. Back then there were lots of places like that, where you could go to be fitted for custom-made ‘foundation’ garments, bras, etc., that would suit you perfectly and improve the figure.
Now it’s just mass-made things like ‘Spanx’, and bras that never really fit the individual. I guess there are still some places that do custom work, but it’s probably beyond the affordability of the middle-class of women who visited my Dad’s friend, back in the day...

Is that why she had the dimples on her upper arms? Lipo?
Does the designer insert Kevlar pads?
I don’t see why she needed to pack her upper body with bullet proof pads and left out the helmet that would have protected her head.
Looks like it does come with the Kevlar top half.
... she was wearing body armor....

For real?
Yeah, I thought she looked very good even though I can’t stand her.
The Jimmy Choo shoes? I can’t tell you anything about them except that they are very, very expensive.
Melanias dress is ready for the boardroom....

Seriously? Look, I can’t stand the Wookie, but that is just too silly. Melania’s dress would be nice to wear out for dinner but not for work.
(S)he’s still a wookie.
Her ass still looks gigantic in it.
But nowadays, the “well off” women can get all kinds of body sculpting procedures (surgical), so they don’t have such a need for the customized undergarments.
The butt that launched a thousand quips!

I don’t care if she came on stage buck naked, I still wouldn’t watch. One of the most DISGUSTING first ladies this country has ever had. My real problem is trying to decide if the moooooooooooooch or hitlary is/has been the worst. I’ve been here for a long time (78 years) and have watched a lot of them come and go but those two take the cake.
Gosh. You must be skinny; at least your clothes sound
skinny. - I’m old & porky and don’t wear shorts because my
thighs rub together in shorts and chafe. = It is HOT as
heckfire here in the South in summer and I got to where I
smothered in britches. - I just took a shower (it was way
past time!) and washed my hair. Now I’m wearing a muu-muu
that I ordered from “Woman Within” or “Blair” or someplace
like that. I got four and they came to about $15 a piece.
100% cotton. (Acrylic or Polyester just suffocates me and
smothers me and makes me sweat like a hog. - My hair is
wet from the shower; and I keep cutting on it and now it
looks like that woman on the commercials who probably cuts
her own hair. (Mine seems to grow an inch or two overnight.
I know it doesn’t; but it seems like it!)
So, I am hoping not to have to change again today. (I just
fall in bed in the muu-muus and they work for gowns.)
No, not skinny, but my legs are in decent shape. I ran track in grade school/high school days, and have been a runner up until back issues the past few years, but now I do LOTS of stairs, mow, keep pretty active. Could certainly lose a few pounds, but have mostly maintained the same weight within about a 5 lb range for the past 15 years or more.
You are right about polyester is TOO HOT!!
Fashion thread for your amusement.
Ivanka's line of dresses, some of which she wore to the GOP Convention, have more flair, better lines, and cost under $200, than the blue trash bag the MOOCHIE wore. LOL
