Attack in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray: ‘We don’t understand – why here?’
France24 ^ | 7/26/16 | Kalminthe Gomis

Posted on 07/26/2016 8:15:17 AM PDT by LibWhacker

Two men claiming allegiance to the Islamic State group killed a priest and seriously injured another person in a church on Tuesday in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, a suburb of Rouen in Normandy. Our Observer, who describes his town of 30,000 residents as a quiet one where different communities coexist in peace, was taken aback by the attack.

“The priest often lent a room in the church for other religious communities to use”

Kalminthe Gomis, 39, is an entrepreneur who runs a Facebook page on which residents of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray discuss local events. He currently lives in Rouen, but spends a lot of his time in the suburb where he grew up and where his parents live.

Our family is Catholic. My mother goes to this church every day. Luckily, she’s currently on vacation in her native country, Senegal, so she wasn’t there today. I spent a lot of time at the church when I was younger, where I took part in youth activities, but these days I mainly go there for weddings, baptisms and holidays. Many of the churchgoers are of African origin, and there’s always a big turnout for Sunday mass.

The priest who was killed, father Jacques Hamel, was a very kind man, very involved in the local community. Whenever members of other religious communities – be they Catholic or Muslim – needed spaces for their activities, he would offer them the use of a room in the church.

"I was worried that an attack could take place in the centre of Rouen, if anything, but I never thought it would happen here"

There’s a Muslim prayer room near the church, and there have never been any tensions between the two communities – we pray separately, but we say hello to each other, we smile. When I was little, my Muslim friends were often invited along on youth activities organised through the church. And today different communities truly coexist in peace in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray. For a long time, I worked as an educator in a youth centre, and I never heard any of the kids expressing radical leanings.

That’s why it’s really difficult for us to understand why something like this has happened here. I was worried that an attack could take place in the centre of Rouen, if anything, but I never thought it would happen here… and even less that it would be carried out against a church whose members are so diverse, a church that stands in solidarity with other religious communities. We had never heard of any threats whatsoever against the church. It just makes no sense.

According to a November 14 article in French daily Le Parisien, Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray has had at least one brush with extremists in the past. Several young men from the region who had made plans to join the ranks of the Islamic State group met in a mosque in the town.

Better just turn the church into a mosque so the Muslims don't get mad and come back.

the Muslim terrorists clearly can strike anywhere, at any time.

Are you angry at Muslim terrorists, or simply just not understanding why they would attack your church and cut off the head of a priest, as opposed to committing their atrocities elsewhere?? Does that really make a difference?

Is that true? They did not give the bodies to the families???? That is, if true, the most heartless act.

WWIII had been declared against the west, and all we do is put out flowers, light candles and post hashtag comments. That’s all you need to understand.

Yes, but unfortunately that’s all the liberal, unicorn believers know to do.
They think if they are nice to the invaders — they will be spared. These younger liberals and old hippies are fools and their offspring will have no chance at survival.

I understand. France has allowed millions of subhuman vermin to come in to the country and to breed and infest what was once a peaceful land. The vermin have no feelings or compassion for humans.
The priest’s message of peace and love mean nothing to the dung beetles. The pre-cambrian scum are turned on by blood and human suffering. They are overjoyed when they carry around a severed head and sing their religious ditty loud, for all to hear!
Reptilian DNA does not carry with it a gene for tolerance and love.

Loving the bacteria will not turn them into humans. Instead, they become more primitive with each generation. Centuries of slicing necks and shagging goats have prevented them from evolving into creatures able to co-exist with higher forms of life.

I have lost all patience with them. There is no way they will ever join the human race.

Totally deluded little cream-puff.
I don't think the French have the will to survive.

If the authorities remain baffled as to motive, I’ve got the answer right here:
They don’t understand why we tolerate them and they don’t tolerate infidels.
It’s not rocket science.

Saint Etienne du Rouvray is near Le Havre on the northern coast of France...

Calais is a overflowing jungle of islamics trying to get across the channel to England..

but about 140 miles west is Le Havre which is about dead opposite Southampton...

Le Havre could be the new Calais and could be an easier place to leave from...

In Calais the islamics took over by just spreading out and eventually swamping out the local home owners and shop keepers who have either fled or closed their businesses...

In Le Havre they may be stepping up their game by attacking and killing any dissenting voices or authorities the local French citizens might have...

who would speak up for their parishioners against invading foreigners, Nazi-style, if not the local priests, especially one who was alive during Hitler’s time and would know the dangers ???

What death would paralyze the most local people other than the needless slaughter of an old beloved priest..

what better time to visit this atrocity on the man of God than during a church service right in front of his flock ???

Isis comes from the pit of hell. Why would demons attack a priest? Seems pretty obvious to me. He is now seated next to Christ for eternity.

The Scorpion and the Frog

A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the
scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The
frog asks, “How do I know you won’t sting me?” The scorpion
says, “Because if I do, I will die too.”

The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream,
the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of
paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown,
but has just enough time to gasp “Why?”

Replies the scorpion: “Its my nature...”

but I never thought it would happen here

The purpose of terrorism is terror.

The objective is to convince people that there is no safe space. That anyone at all can be the next victim.
