If you took time to watch the Republican National Convention you might have noticed a song or two from your favorite artist being blasted over the speakers at Quicken Loans Arena.
Music has become the backdrop for this election season and some artists have welcomed the usage of their work by presidential candidates while others have been totally disgusted by it.
Since Donald Trump's announcement to run for presidency in 2015 several artists have come out against the nominee's use of their music.

Alice Cooper, Go To Hell.
Awesome, innit?
;D
>> Shut up and sing.
They’re whiners that actually believe folks give a damn about their vacant opinions.
I would not want to use the music or art of anyone who did not want his/her music or art to be associated with my campaign.
Why don’t they just play old classical music that has long fallen into the public domain. I’d rather listen to Bach’s Saint Matthew Passion while waiting for Trump instead of these trashy bands anyway.
How many of these artists had concerts or sold records or cds to future republicans? They really don’t think that only socialists and commies buy or listen to their music do they.
Kind of pisses me off that they don’t think I have to right to listen to their music. Pretty one sided of them.
it was all ASCAP legal. GO TO HELL!!
"The Boy From New York City" (youtube song link)"Ooh wah, ooh wah cool, cool kitty
Tell us about the boy from New York City
Ooh wah, ooh wah c'mon kitty
Tell us about the boy from New York City"
Why are these morons complaining. I recall at a DNC Convention they were playing Elvis. Now one has to be dumb to think simply because you hear a song that the artist is supporting that candidate.
When I heard Elvis played over at the DNC Convention, I didn’t go “Wow! Elvis supports the Demoncrap”. Elvis was a registered Republican. Looks like these ungrateful artist should be thankful for getting royalty checks from Donald.
The interesting thing is that song writer and not the band receives the royalties of any particular song. In other words the song writer and not the band owns the rights to the song.
A band may not like who uses their rendition of a particular piece but as long as the royalties are paid to the song writer the band or the writers don’t have a legal ground to stand on...
Screw ALL these bands....I’ve outgrown all that shit...I honestly wish that conservative politicians should use classical music for their campaigns. Wagner’s “Flight of the Valkyries” would be a place to start...and there’s soooo much more..
Amen !!! You’re my kind of poster!!
They pick music appropriate for an audience that smokes ‘lumbo’ and has a Farrah Fawcett Majors poster on the wall.
The republican convention pays for a license which allows for the performance LIVE of any song published through ASCAP and BMI.
They are NOT playing the original recording of the song. They are PERFORMING LIVE their own version which if you're licensed is perfectly legal.
This started from day 1 when Trump used that song “Rocking in a Free World”, and neil young complained about it. Then Trump tweeted a picture of Neil Young in his office asking him for money from a month prior.
