People are criticizing Cruz's character for not supporting Trump. But wouldn't it also reflect badly on his character if he supported someone who had attacked his wife and father?

In that case people would say that he is not loyal to his own wife, that he is not honoring his father, and he is showing weakness by supporting someone who attacked his family.

I'm not saying that Cruz is not ego driven, perhaps to a pathological extent, just that in a way he was in a no-win situation.

It would be interesting to know what Cruz's family had to say about this while he was deciding.

whattabunchacrap.

cruise started it with the attack on Trump's wife, Trump countered with guns blazin'. This strategy won him the nomination, and will beat cankles.

And besides, cruise HAS NO CHARACTER.

Perhaps Cruz's loyalty to his wife was a prominent reason he didn't outright give his support to Trump, but HEY, this is a really important election, let's leave chivalry and ego aside for awhile for the betterment and survival of our Country.

I gladly gave Cruz money to support his campaign but now is the time for him to give back for the greater good.

Onward with Trump!

Screw you Ted Cruz!

Trump never attacked Heidi Cruz or Cruz's dad. That is a lie. Cruz however did run ads claiming Mrs Trump was morally unfit to be the Frist Lady. Ads implying she was a slut.

Here is a pic of Mrs Trump watching over Cruz's children. And Cruz repays her kindness by running ads calling her a slut? FUTC

His PAC attacked Melania Trump first, and Ted never said a word to condemn it. Friends of Trump merely fired back.

Ted doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

I really thought that Cruz had the smarts to walk that fine line.

Between Trump and Cruz, I was sure they could have come to an agreement that would’ve made everyone a winner. Trump makes a public apology to Heidi and shows he can be magnanimous. Cruz endorses Trump and builds goodwill with the base for the future. Together, they smash Clinton’s campaign.

Heck, Trump slammed Carson at some point early in the primaries. But when Carson ultimately endorsed Trump, Trump couldn’t say enough nice things about him. They worked it out!

Cruz couldn’t do that?

I was a big Cruz fan. Still think he knows more about the Constitution and the political philosophy that was behind it's genesis than than most folks. However, at this point in the campaign, the thing to do is simply say "bygones", and get on with life, and what you want to do with it. No one could have made him go out and work 18 hour days dedicated to electing Trump. He really should have just endorsed Trump, and moved on. Everybody knows that things are said in campaigns that aren't exactly heart-felt. It look to me like he's taking it all much more personally than he ought to be. It's just my opinion, and everybody has one, but I think it would have been better for the Republic if he'd realized he could do more good behind Trump, than under the bus.

For myself, I'm a Texan, and he's my senator who I have been happy to vote for in the past. I'll have to think pretty hard about it going forward though, next time he's up.

If he couldn't endorse Trump he shouldn't have lobbied to talk at the convention. He knew what was expected. It was his huge ego that felt he and what he had to say mattered so very much.

It is the sad rigidity and large, self righteous ego that would not serve us well if he was President. Trump has a large ego but is not so circumspect that he focuses ONLY and exclusively on himself and his family.

There is nothing wrong with Cruz feeling the way he does. Yet. The right thing to do would not have been to speak. And as I said he LOBBIED to speak at the convention.

Not according to Richard Viguerie of Conservative HQ who was a VA PNC Convention Delegate and a solid Cruz supporter. His critique is worth the read:

You've got to remember. Trump is a "counter-puncher", and not on the offensive. Cruz's PAC decided it was OK to diss Melania by posting old [risqué] photos of her. Trump retaliated!

Cruz’s campaign attacked Trumps wife first.

Beck said Trump wife was in a lesbian prono film or shoot. The hot Trump did on his dad was in response to him attacking Trump, which made him fair game at that point. Trump merely pointed out the article and photos in the National Inquirer

But nice try

I am not sure, but I think that I read where the Cruz camp started that fight by posting a picture of Donald’s wife. And then their story was along the lines of, “The fight started when he hit me back, judge”.

Stop your lies. Trump did not attack Cruz family. Do a little research! He responded to Cruz attacking Melania via his PAC who Roe assisted.

“wouldn’t it also reflect badly on his character if he supported someone who had attacked his wife and father?”

Let’s see... On one hand you have fragile flower Teddy with hurt feelings (unwarranted). On the other hand you have at stake the future freedom of AMERICA. Please tell me how anyone can rationalize hurt feelings trumping America’s future.

And what would the poor widdle baby Teddykins do if Putin insulted someone in the Cruz family — curl up in a ball and cwy?

He’s a snake, in the pocket of Clinton and Obama; it’s as simple as that. Someone needs to tell him that $2 million dollars doesn’t go as far as it used to.

In this episode of who did what to whom, etc keep in mind where the first shot was
fired from. Granted the first shot may have been outside of that candidate’s control
but it was fired from his support structure.
