That doesn’t make it any better.
Well that’s a relief. Glad to know he was aiming at the OTHER unarmed person on the street. /sarc
Wait, What?
Well, that’s the ticket, any old lie lying around will do to cover up this criminal behavior now won’t it! I support good cops! That said, they, as a group had better get their $hit together and start getting rid of cops like this one, rather than “trump up” this bull$hit excuse! To have thought he needed to shoot either of them is a disgrace.
Some cops just shouldn’t be.
All cops on the street with guns should be given a full day’s training each month on how to handle situations and how to handle their guns.
I don’t think, “I was aiming at the non-violent, mentally challenged patient that was playing with the toy truck” is a winning defense.
Cop shoots 3 times. Misses target and hits wrong guy once. Not only that, but he feels the need to shoot at someone playing with a toy truck.
At least the policeman went home safe at the end of his shift.
< /rolling eyes>
Target discipline. Never point a firearm at that which you do not intend to destroy.
Shooting either one would be a harebrained decision.
Are police trained to recognize autism?
So why did he handcuff the guy that was shot if he wasn’t shooting at him ?
He thought the toy truck was loaded.
There is no explanation for this incident, other than stupid cop.
The cop needs to be demoted to fast food worker, the city needs to settle for half a mill with the therapist, and everyone needs to take responsibility.
Yeah, those toy trucks sure do look like a handgun.
PS. The autistic guy was just sitting there on the pavement.
????????????????????????????????? Officers are supposed to assess the situation before doing anything, how long did this officer assess the situation, all he had to do was ask a few questions to KNOW FOR SURE what was going on.
From what I have seen of this case, this officer is going to have to be charged.
You don’t get to shoot people for no reason.
A mistake is not a reason.
I’m very pro-police, but if circumstances do not justify a shooting, then you gotta pay the price just like everyone else.
So, the cop took three shots at human sized non-moving targets from close range. Two missed entirely and one hit the wrong guy? And this dude is competent to carry a firearm? (I don’t believe the cover story, by the way)
