Krauthammer: Cruz's Speech 'Was the Longest Suicide Note in US Political History'
Fox News ^ | July 21, 2016 | Fox News

Charles Krauthammer said that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) "blew it" at the Republican National Convention with his address in which he did not endorse Donald Trump.

"What Cruz delivered was the longest suicide note in American political history and this morning he added an addendum," said Krauthammer.

Krauthammer weighed in on America's Newsroom this morning after Cruz spoke to Texas delegates (some of them angry), doubling down on his message from last night and going even further.

“What DID Trump say about Heidi? He retweeted an ugly picture of her, that’s all I remember.”

That’s it. And it wasn’t an ugly picture. Not real flattering though. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and evidently Ted doesn’t think Heidi measures up. It was after the seminude picture of Melania’s modeling days was circulated in Utah by Cruz people.

The only thing he said about Cruz’s father is that Cruz should address the story about his father & Lee Harvey Oswald. Most people still don’t know that Cruz’s father was a Castro supporter. I think there is a good chance he was connected to the CIA. He was demonstrating for Castro & supposedly changed over to anti-Castro. He went to Canada after the assassination of JFK to work in the oil industry.

If you read what his father said about those who supported Baptiste, the Cruz’ believe in revenge.

The six Cuban students sent a letter to Austin American with equally tough language. The students spoke out against the Batista refugees, writing they hoped “this pack of blood thirsty hyenas will not be permitted to dirty the American soil.”

“The Cuban students at the University of Texas, fully aware of their duty as citizens of a country that has just gotten rid of the bloodiest dictatorship the Americas ever knew, want to state publicly their protest against the admission to United States soil of the Cuban criminals that flew in on the morning of Jan. 1,” the students’ letter said. “The granting of political asylum to men what can be considered no more than common criminals, and who have a debt of blood to the Cuban people, will leave a perennial stain upon the principles and ideals of the American nation. We sincerely hope … this pack of blood thirsty hyenas will not be permitted to dirty the American soil … We demand immediate deportation of these criminals who must be tried by the proper Cuban authorities.”

The Daily Texan noted they planned another celebration in favor of Castro that weekend, as well. Garnering other details of Cruz’s time at UT-Austin is difficult, as many of those who knew him are either dead or appear to have returned to Cuba following graduation.

Can’s stand Krauthammer, but that is a brilliant line.

“Why is “lyin Ted’s” endorese so important?”

You’re right, Ted’s endorsement is not important at all. Trump does not need it, and letting Ted Cruz embarrass himself one last time will have no negative effect on Trump whatsoever.

In fact, it is probably better that Trump stay distanced from Cruz and whatever is left of his loony following. Even the Texas delegation showed on Tuesday they are ready to embrace Trump as their “new friend” and their positive comments about Cruz seemed to me a minimal act of kindness and sympathy for a “favorite son”, as was the Texas-only applause on Wednesday.

Cruz is toxic after Wednesdsy, when he doubled down on his awful NY values gaffe by saying the whole point of states is that NY can disagree with Iowa, and when he answered the widespread boos with the smug and sarcastic “I appreciate the enthusiasm of the NY delegation”.

As if the NY delegation were the only ones booing. As if being hated is a mark of conservative virtue. As if his invitation to speak was anything more than a bone being tossed to a pathetic sore loser. As if he was, like RR in 1976, delivering such stirring and historic oratory that the spellbound audience was thinking “God help us, we’ve nominated the wrong man! Cruz is the one we should have nominated!”

As if.

“The Cubanadian was never eligible to be President.”

Eligible?? That inconvenient little detail didn’t seem to stop the Gay Muzzie Kenyan...TWICE!

"Yup, Texans do not look kindly upon his type of antics. He'll be packing soon."

Maybe his wife can get him a job at Goldman Sachs.

Cruz made the “Never Trump” people look like the jerks they are... that's what's bothering Krauthammer... And yes, Kasich is being ‘polite’ but it's the same whiny crap at a slightly lower decibel ...

In the feudal era, there would be serious consequences for not choosing wisely in politics.

But for Cruz, it will likely mean a cushy job at Golden Sacks, snuggling up with Warren Buffet and training the next generation of crony capitalist puppets. What do you think of his chances for reelection in Texas, V K Lee?

Many here seem to feel deceived by him. Some doubt he can hold his Senate seat. He has burned bridges and it is doubtful those walkways can be rebuilt. As to his replacement? Do hope that candidate will be better than both Cruz and Cornyn. Two words describe Ted Cruz: Betrayal and Distrust
