The act that he mentioned that has meaning. He is the master of the “some people say....” which of course, nobody can accuse him of saying it.

I was rooting for the coup to succeed, but I imagine Trump might have seen it as a source of even more instability in a part of the world that has already way too much of it.
I could easily see that as a valid point.
He made that little jab about the coup being staged so it’s out there and can’t be taken back. Even though he followed up that he didn’t think it was, the idea is on the table which he can use when he needs to.
That is not what I wanted to hear from Trump. Erdogan is the closest thing to Hitler Europe has had since WWII.

As far as I can tell from the analysis on this thread, Mr. Trump’s level of international gamesmanship and cognitive sophistication is so far above that of the ordinary Southern housewife or Greek gentleman that you and I might as well just sit here and *drink* rather than risk being blinded by the sublime brilliance.

There is no justification for NATO’s continued existence past the fall of the Berlin Wall, and this becomes clearer with every NATO intervention and wargame and threat issued.
FANTASTIC opening position in forcing NATO countries to meet their obligations. At this point, they have no incentive, since big daddy USA will bail them out no matter what. It is national welfare for NATO now. Trump is communicating that if both sides do not keep their agreement, it isn't much of an agreement.
