SHANNEN DOHERTY SHAVES HEAD DURING ONGOING CANCER BATTLE
Hollywood Reporter ^ | July 20 2016 | Hollywood Reporter

Shannen Doherty has a brand new look. And it's brave and beautiful.

The actress, who has been battling cancer, is now sporting a closely-cropped 'do presumably inspired by her ongoing treatments to fight the disease. Doherty, 45, documented the makeover on Instagram (posted below) on Tuesday night in a series of photos showing the stages from cutting to shaving her hair while surrounded by her mother, Rosa, and friend Anne Kortright-Shilstat.

Thank you. I'm sorry about your wife. So far I'm good. Been 7 years now. Was a tough battle but I made to the other side. The bad part is being scared the rest of your life that it will reappear. God bless you. 😍

"Nowadays I think they do too many lumpectomies rather than mastectomies. It is awfully hard to get good margins with lumpectomies."

Yeah, because of the over emphasis on tits. Which is part of the reason that we husbands and SO's should help make the right call, which is "get rid of all the susceptible tissue!".

"My wife had a single mastectomy in 1996. She did okay until she developed cancer in the other in 2009 and had another mastectomy. Now she is battling non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Still, she has done well for 20 years.

Yeah, but if she had had the double the first time, the second couldn't have developed. I don't know if the lymphoma might be related to the breast cancer. With my mom, the BC had spread to her skin. They tried radiation (electron beam), but that didn't work. The doctors felt that at her age, chemo was as likely to kill her as the cancer.

'Scuse me if I come on a bit strong about this.....it is something I feel very strongly about.

I can certainly understand the fear you spoke.

But know in your heart that God helped you see 7 years and His strength along with your faith can see 70 more years! :-)

There is strength in surviving a challenge and you have shown you have both the courage and the strength for a long, long life.

Stay positive and keep the faith, my Freeper friend.

Thanks...I needed that after my post - many memories came flooding back.

At 28, I became a single dad to my 2 little girls, 4 and 1 - it’s been an adventure. They are the love and light of my life...

Sorry to hear that....and yes, it is very sad. Twenty-nine is VERY young. Recommended age to start mammograms is 40, though 30 is recommended "if there is family history" (which was the case with my wife).

I have heard (but have not researched) that there is a connection with hormonal birth control and breast cancer. It certainly seems logical that there might be.

I heard that too. They suspect because she stopped breast feeding it may have cause it.Sounds weird.Right now the liver is damaged and they are just trying to control.Lot’s of support of course and we hold our breath.

Prayers. I hear she is really a nice person but the media made a big deal out of some drama around 15 years ago. She is a Republican as well.....

Prayers week be said for her here as well. I had a big crush on her during her 90210 era. She’s got the look of a fighter, so I’m sure she’ll rise above this bump in the road.

Thanks Squantos,She is triple negative but 1 stage.Since one in 4 families will experience this is like talking over tea/not.Her cancer is so aggressive if she had not pull a rib and passed out at work we would not have know for 4 months which would have been too late.So when she finishes the chemo-cuts offs her breasts but what caused it.

Clearly, there are plenty of people on FR who don’t have friends. And you can understand why.

There is nothing worse than armchair doctors. Nothing.

I’m a blondie so I didn’t have much eyebrow anyway. I did love the feeling of that warm water on my bald head LOL. Now I understand why men shave their heads LOL. I hope I’m not weird? Anyway Sheana, I am almost 3 years in remission I hope the same for you!
