Prior to announcing Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump had narrowed the VP field down to the Indiana governor, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and Gov. Chris Christie.
While Gingrich seems to have been a good sport about Trumps ultimate decision to go with Pence, according to the Weekly Standard, Christie was livid.
While minding my own business at the Starbucks inside the Westin hotel this morning, I saw a man engage Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort in conversation about the VP selection process. The man, whom I couldn't identify, suggested that Pence was a smart pick and Gingrich would've been a disaster.
"Christie was livid, right?" the man said at one point. "Yeah," Manafort replied.
In an interview with MSNBC on Thursday, Christie did say he would be upset if he didnt end up getting picked.
"I mean, obviously, I'm a competitive person. So I'm not going to say it won't bother me, if I'm not selected. Of course it bothers you a little bit. 'Cause if you're a competitive person, like I am, and you're used to winning, like I am — again, you don't like coming in second, ever," the governor told Nicolle Wallace.
Is anyone surprised? This guy is going to give himself a coronary if he doesn’t calm down.
“Oh baloney...this is media crap!”
Again, more Townhall never Trump bs posing as news!”
I agree....Even Trump would not be dumb enough to have a VP candidate from his neighboring New Jersey.
Pence is a fair candidate selection, not the best, not the worse. Outside the Oval office though, we will also need champions to run to the ground some of these run away departments and agencies not to mention the supreme court. First order of business will be to root out those who have borrowed into the general schedule and those who were placed in important high level career positions from which to do damage.
“I think Christie is going to be A.G. This media crap is for the birds...to bad that they have so many people brain washed that’s why I don’t listen to them...”
Yep. I don’t think the paleomedia has gotten it right even one single time in this cycle about Trump’s candidacy. I suspect there are some of them on synthetic opioids still waiting for him to ‘implode any minute’.
Really?! Two NE Alpha males? Lets spread the wealth a little. Pence is an great choice.
It speaks volumes that oily Felito is ostracized by Republicans, and slithers over into this set for a place by the fire. An utter fraud. Always was.
I had to leave a comment on Townhall what a stupid ‘story’ this is.
He only offered a loss to Trump. Conservatives, Christians and fly-over country sits at home.....duh!
Major media crap.
Must we swallow unsourced fairy tales whole, dropped on us out of thin air, just because.
“Really, turn off the t.v.; radio and Glen Beck and this nation would be a lot better off...”
This morning, I turned our local Faux news channel off after the weather guy. Their follow up was 3 push polls showing how Clinton was ahead.
I can use my Chromebook to check the news without the bs and lies.
Then, I go to FR.
Contribute monthly to FR to keep our real news site working.
I call BS on this story. The MSM wants to sow dissention, divide and conquer. Feh on all of them.
And that is probably a big factor in why he wasn’t chosen - Trump saw through him.
Christie is just another liberal blowhard-—always has been
remember what Kissinger said about women and power....
NPR this morning had some nevertrump woman saying there are better candidates and she will continue to bring this to the floor of the convention.
She sounded like a rino in conservative’s clothing.
I am betting cruz is being lawyerly coy in order to be viable incase some miracle happens in his favor.
That piece of soviet garbage should never be let out of his home state.
Great post, you nailed it! Have to live with the guys policies daily and he’d be a disaster on the national stage in any position.... For Republicans anyway.
One might think the media was playing antagonist.
New York + New Jersey? How does that combo win 272 electoral votes?
This is stupid. Christie, in the quote above, explains clearly why it would upset him if he wasn’t picked. He doesn’t like to lose. His public career indicates he’ll get over it and move on (likely to a position in the Trump admin).
