INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Shortly after being officially introduced as Donald Trumps running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence was trending on Twitter but it had nothing to do with politics.
Pence posted a photo of his family eating at a Chilis restaurant in New York, prompting a storm of tweets.

I could eat my weight in Chili’s tostado chips and salsa.
Mrs BigEd reminds me that Chili’s also has great Beef Fajitas.
And they are always busy.
That sign is just funny. My father liked well done steaks. My mother and I could never convert him.
Well played!
I distinctly remember Herself and Huma’s staged Chipotle drop-in. NY Daily News, Yahoo!, and other rags trumpeted this as evidence that Herself was an “every woman.”
Today, those same scumbags snobbishly ridicule a Republican VP candidate dining at an all-American restaurant.
Looks like the governor had a tostada, and the wife had fajitas. The daughter ‘s plate is covered by some bowls of salsa.
I’m as down to Earth as they come when it comes to food. I snub Olive Garden and Red Lobster mainly due to the overpriced crap they serve. They were both great restaurants as recent as ten years ago, but they serve dive bar food at ridiculous prices anymore. I’d rather buy that stuff at the dive bar since it’s usually an independently owned establishment run by decent people :-).
I do like the other restaurants you mentioned.
I think Waffle House is the breakfast diner in heaven that somehow wound up here in Earth. I love that place and make it a point to hit a couple when I’m down South as well. I’ve never been disappointed there.
IHOPs are also really good (so long as they’re not near the various Mogadishus found in cities across the USA)
Maybe one of these times Pence will eat at CFA - that should cause a ruckus on Twitter.
Friend’s son from Texas lives close to their new location in New York so I sent him a CFA gift card for his birthday. He took several of his college friends who are all from New York out to dinner. None had ever been before but they want to eat there all the time now.
Waffle House....swoon!
coupon ;)
Yep, and the chicken fajitas too. I get them about once a year and always enjoy them.
Okay, that is a good one.
Ahhh, best known secret on the coast, ha-ha. We stop there too, first time we saw it we couldn’t believe it. What a location.
Had one of those meals at a fancy restaurant.
Left hungry and went to Norms.
Who cares where they eat? What I want to know is did they take “little bites?”
Heck, Trump serves Wendy’s hamburgers on his airplane. Nothing wrong with saving a few bucks - after all, the elites have their expensive food bills paid for by their donors, and special interest groups. This is a nothing “burger.”
So you are saying there are non-Halal food carts/trucks in NYC? All I saw three weeks ago in Manhattan were Halal street vendors.
BOL! The worst, most traumatic meal I ever had was back in the 90s at a Michelin star rated restaurant. I was left so hungry I stopped at McDonalds afterward. The champagne was incredible though.
We had the same fiasco in the 1990’s. I made a suggestion to our Professional services that save a ton of money and made money as well.
One of the asst directors, a VP said besides a nice cash bonus, he wanted to take us out to any 5 star restaurant in the bay area. I told him to have his secretary call my wife and let her pick the restaurant.
My wife suggested a 5 star restaurant that had a 3-4 month waiting list. They got the reservation.
3+ months we met the VP for dinner. We ordered Maine lobster and after a couple of small and expensive appetizers our so called Maine lobsters came out. We still laugh at what our faces looked like when we saw half of a critter the size of a medium crawdad on the plate with two small raviolis, 2 small asparagus spears and a couple of long/slender green tube like veggies.
Dessert was like a miniature cupcake with chocolate sauce and a few small berries by the side.
On the way out, I saw the vp slip something to my wife and whisper something in her ear.
As we were heading home, I asked what that was about. My wife held up a $20 bill, and said the vp told her to buy both of us something to eat at a fast food.
We enjoyed our free late dinner at Jack’s.
