(CBS) – Indiana Gov. Mike Pence was raised in the Hoosier state, but he says he has a strong, personal connection to Chicago.
WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports from the Loop.
Pence says his grandfather emigrated to the U.S. from Ireland in 1923 and came to Chicago, where he drove a bus for 40 years.
In a speech to the City Club of Chicago in December 2014, he said his parents grew up on the South Side.

The fiasco with LGBT was actually a misstep by our state legislature.
Because Pence is a leader he stood up and basically kept it out of the judicial system. Think how Row vs Wade made it to the SCOTUS and is now settled case law. Our AG and other legal experts realized it was doomed for failure. So he took the fall. Never blaming the legislature who actually screwed it up
A stronger case with a more conservative court will right the wrong later
I think the two states often work together
They have joined on more than one lawsuit.
They also have similar attitudes toward industry so employment rates are similar

That’s right. Under Gov. Pence, Indiana has a balanced budget. We even have reserves.
Pence reduced our debt by 11.6 million and no new debt.
We have added over 100,000 private sector jobs since he took office and Indiana is ranked #1 in the Midwest for doing business.
He’s not flashy, but we’ve had 8 years of “flash”.
