Remember, communists aren’t religious, Saddam wasn’t religious. The world has an amazing array of bad guys flavors to choose from. We shall see.

Ya-who’d a thought a couple years ago that Assad would still be around and Erdogan gone? Apparently anyway...

“It’s not really a risk since you don’t actually have an option. We don’t get to pick. We just get to watch. And usually we watch a bad situation get worse.”

Not always, my FRiend. It has gotten better in Egypt, both for the Egyptians themselves (stability, more security, return of tourism), and for the Middle East in general. If this Coup succeeds, things will get much better in Turkey, just like the last time the Turkish military had to step in to reinstate a more secular society. The Turkish military are the defenders against radical Muzzies taking over their country.

Oh man, I’ve been in your shoes with kids overseas and SHTF. Worst week of my life!! I will keep you and yours in my prayers! Please keep in touch and let us know how it’s going, or if there’s anything we can do.

He knocked off Morsi in Egypt too. He is crushing the Muslim Brotherhood globally. Next stop here in DC.

Please elaborate.

So everyone keeps promising. But my memory is long enough to remember secular bad men in the mid east. It’s just not a place that’s fond of growing good guys. We’ll see. It’ll be nice to be wrong but until the new government actually DOES something I will assume they’re like 99% of the other governments that have been in the mid east in my life time. Because I always play the odds.

are we for or against this?

!00% for this, if Erdogan can be deposed. His demise is a bonus.

A coup is long overdue in Turkey. Put Erdogan in shackles, try him for corruption, and jail him for life.

As I recall Atatürk set up the system there so that the military is supposed to intervene to protect Turkey from a theocratic takeover. A friend did some contract work in Turkey many years back. He had a beard but shaved it because the military guys were distrustful. Thought he might be an Islamist. Lol!

Don’t bother the Imam in the White House - the WNBA is on ESPN ( maybe they’ll say something about him)

Those secular bad men are NOTHING compared to what we have now.

Secular is good and the more brutal the better.
