Team Trump Plans Public Event Friday With VP Pick

Donald Trump will showcase his vice presidential pick at a public event on Friday, multiple sources tell NBC News.

Trump's possible picks are thought to be narrowed to three candidates: Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

While the joint appearance is expected on Friday, it's not clear whether or not the identity of the pick could be released or could leak earlier in the week.

Trump is scheduled to attend a fundraiser and rally in Indiana Tuesday night with Pence; he campaigned with Christie on Monday and with Newt Gingrich last week.

He told the New York Times earlier Tuesday that he intended to make a decision "over the next three- to four-day period of time," adding that his "gut" would be an important factor in making the decision.

Regarding Carson....From what I read he was not a life-long Democrat. Switched with Reagan...then went Independent.

From Washington Times:

said he grew up a Democrat but switched his party affiliation to Republican in the 1980s after listening to Ronald Reagan.

“Like most Democrats who were black I was told most Republicans were evil, racist people. But then I started listening to Ronald Reagan and I thought God it just makes so much sense. Let me investigate this,” said Mr. Carson, who writes a column for The Washington Times.

Mr. Carson said he switched to being an independent about 15 to 20 years ago after getting a “sour taste” watching Republicans who had their own personal foibles impeach President Clinton over an extramarital affair. “I just saw so much hypocrisy in both parties,” he explained.

Mr. Carson said it made sense to make his party switch now, well before he decides next spring whether to run for the White House.

same here. Those would be my preferences. However this is the VP we are talking about. Normally a VP does almost nothing. In a Trump administration the VP will do absolutely nothing.

Given that I would almost want Newt to have some other position where he can add more value. Pence might make more sense in a VP do-nothing position even though he is a good conservative.

It’s Pence.

He is the only one who brings something politically to the deal.

The only job of the VP candidate is to get the P candidate elected.

Newt brings no new voters to our side that we do not already have. He is also disorganized, but has great ideas. Make him a Special Counselor to the President.

Christie cannot swing NJ, and would not help down South. He is a former US Attorney. Make him AG.

Pence is solid Conservative and smooth..... He is the one.

Why a Black Man? No Black R ever bring swing Ds. Just ask J.C. Watts.

Trump’s policies require ambitious legislation - Newt knows how to get that done on the Hill - I expect him to make this pick less as a politician and more from his background as a delegator...

Newt brings a lot of excitement to the ticket.

Really? So why didn't he beat the pants off Milquetoast Mitt in the 2012 primary?

You know, Mitt, the guy who lost to Mr Excitement McCain in the 2008 primary? McCain, the guy who went on to lose the general to an unknown community organizer from Chicago.

For my money, the only two people who've brought real excitement to the Republican side in the last thirty years, have been Sarah Palin and Donald Trump.

needs to start logging airplane tail numbers and see what is scheduled.

I remember when Sarah was nominated.

That was SUPER COOL when the aviation guys on FR found out who was coming from where to McCain’s announcement. So exciting. I hope we do it again.

It’ll be Pence with Newt as Chief of Staff.

West had two years in Congress. That’s the extend of his Washington experience. It’s not going to be Allen West.

Marsha Blackburn would be a fine pick. She’s been in Congress for years and is a reliable conservative. She’s respected and very easy on the eyes so that means the dems would attempt to Palinize her but she can hold her own with the best of them.

my niece thinks Trump was planted by the G20 to deliberately fail and secure Hillary’s place as power broker for the USD and that freedom as we once knew it will be a distant memory
