As presumptive presidential nominees Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump move closer to selecting their vice presidential candidates, a new Morning Consult poll shows voters are largely unmoved by the supposed contenders.
The national survey of more than 2,001 registered voters taken over the weekend shows just two potential picks generating at least some enthusiasm among Democrats and Republicans former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.).
In a head-to-head matchup, Clinton maintained her single point lead over Trump, 42 percent to 41 percent, with 18 percent of voters still undecided. Trump holds an advantage among independents with 38 percent, compared with Clintons 31 percent. Almost one-third of independents (32 percent) remain undecided.

Some of the big-name polls are weighted very heavily toward Democrats, as you probably know.
A poll of registered votes is better than one just of “voters,” but as somebody mentioned upthread the “likely” voter polls are the most reliable. I know you already know that too.
But I would think the national polls are almost irrelevant, unless somebody goes way up or way down.
The swing state polls will tell the story. One thing that I think favors Trump, whatever his numbers, is that his voters are going to flock to the voting stations, and more will likely turn out even than the best polls show.
Hillary will get the hard left traditionalists...but a hell of a lot of supposed Clinton voters will be stoop-settin or jet-settin or just settin it out. My hunch anyway.
I hope you are right...
The problem is it’s the Democrats that are excited about both.
The chicken little routine is a constant, designed to depress freepers.
“Trump did not secure 50% or greater of the vote. That means over 50% did not vote for him... You cannot say that of Reagan”
“Oh puhhhleaaase lets not go on pretending that ol Donnie espouses the ultimate virtue of conservatism”
“Im voting Trump while at the same time holding my nose”
That would be the best outcome of all unless she pulls a Palin and announces someone as McCain did that truly inspires the base to the polls
I agree. I’m waiting for him to starting dropping some Hillary Bombs. I do know Donald would benefit making commercials with him describing exactly why Hillary is the wrong choice for the presidency. He needs to do this without the usual “Crooked Hillary” chant, which, by itself has worn thin.
He needs to describe it in short, succinct statements, using COMPLETE SENTENCES, not peppering the microphone with assorted sound bites. When Hillary is heard on the radio, it is often her describing, in a normal (for her) tone of voice, and at a slowed cadence, why she thinks our candidate is the wrong choice. It’s a matter of delivery. There is room for both, but sometimes the auctioneer or circus barker tone should be shelved and traded for the more sedated tones of the boardroom.
I see a trend where (just my opinion of course) polls greatly overstate the support for Gary Johnson. The media want him in the debate to attack Trump. The guy is an absolute joke, and a horrible candidate, but they want him as an attack dog, I believe. Watch his numbers mysteriously climb to get him over the needed 15%, the number usually set forth as the qualifying number for the three debates.
Who is Flynn???? Ant he a DemoRat???
Exactly! Which means she's going to have to pick a real schlub. lol
The country has either become a Socialist/Commie voter majority or vote fraud is deciding. Hard to conclude that one of the other isn't true else you can't explain Obama 2.
I have said for 40 years that polls serve the function of making the elections they steal seem reasonable.
It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.

You’re probably right. You should see the colleges, the emasculated children that these professors have brainwashed.
Heh. It wouldn't surprise me.
Personally I think the mainstream media drives the narrative and a bunch of gullible voters in BOTH parties parrot whatever they say... MEDIA: "Condi Rice is a rising star in the GOP who is an expert on Russia and would have a fantastic veep". VOTERS: "Condi Rice is a rising star in the GOP who is an expert on Russia and would have a fantastic veep".
Agree.
But I don’t think that vicious, selfish hag has it in her to share the stage with anyone who might outshine her.
However she just might be evil enough to put up with Warren or, hell, I don’t know, and then after the election lock them in the East Wing without so much as a pencil or a breadcrust.
