Deadly officer-involved shootings of two black men, one in Louisiana and another in Minnesota, have the attention of the country and that of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Sunday night, a group here in Memphis marched across the city and onto the I-40 bridge.
It started as a peaceful rally at FedExForum with hundreds of people.
After rallying at FedExForum, the crowd marched to police headquarters at 201 Poplar and then continued on, with more people joining them as they went on.
The marchers attempted to go to the I-40 bridge, but police blocked the entrance to the bridge. They eventually found a way onto the bridge via the exit ramp, and police had trouble stopping them.
Traffic was forced to a standstill, and the bridge was closed as police ordered the protesters to exit.
There was still a crowd of marchers who did not make it onto the bridge, as well as a big group still back at FedExForum.
There was a big police presence surrounding the rally and march, including a police helicopter and officers in tactical gear. Interim Police Director Michael Rallings was also at the rally, and things heated up when protestors interrupted him.
I went to Graceland with my extended Family 10 years ago, but never got to go around town and get a feel for the city. So I don't know where the protesters are at now.
Although I do have a wonderful story about the Memphis Airport when I was returning home from Air Force Basic Training.
Well, there’s Liberia.
If the press would cut most of the coverage, they would stop all this. The left overs from the 1950’s have spent alot of time telling them how horrible whitey was/is. They look upon that era as their glory days and are trying to relive it. All these movies about slaves stir up resentment for a new generation and they keep the hate going. Whites were very bad in that era, but times have drastically changed for the better.
My grandparents used to live in Memphis and I would go ice skating at the Memphis mall, I loved it! By the year 1995, the city slowly became infested and by 2000, all the whites were gone. I’m not saying it’s a racial thing, just the shift toward Democrat policies.
Oh but they are, however you will not hear a peep on the networks! I work, live and worship with many of color. We Pray, and we Pray, but so many don’t think for themselves, or their Salvation. It has been written, that many will be fooled. Today I think of Paul, and each day he woke, march he did!
bridge still shut down but not that many protestors left there
some smaller groups have went back downtown
Mayor on phone saying that bridge must be opened soon
I said that two days ago. When it comes to enforcing the rule of law, everyone is a pansy these days. I'd be using tear gas, mace, water cannon... whatever it takes to enforce the law. If you fail to do this, you have set a precedent for more of the same bad behavior.

Thank you so much for covering this story.
We are in a news black out on FOXMegyn News Corp and CNN and DRUDGE is snoring through the news of the hour.
Are civilians trapped in their cars on that bridge or did BLM block entry onto the bridge?
police leader went back onto the bridge to talk the remaining protestors to leave about 100 remain but won’t leave
now police with some riot gear moving in

about the only time I was in downtown Memphis was to go to the Peabody hotel to see the ducks and to go to the Rendezvous BBQ. I drove 3 old ladies to Memphis about 5 years ago to visit Graceland. They were all still in love with Elvis :)
They gave me directions etc. They had good memories. They were just too old to drive that far anymore and it was time for their Elvis fix (every couple of years or 3 )..
Yes we also went to Tupelo !!!
:)
oh and I did go with some friends who lived in the suburbs to Beale Street to sing and preach on the street one weekend but that was more than 20 years ago..
zip ties now coming out media asked to move
police now lined up blocking protestors downtown too
True and the cops should use force especially since the interstate has been shut down for 5 hours. If they use force the city will burn I’m afraid and I live here unfortunately.
Id keep going. I would not stop for them.
‘zackly.
You might want to come around the south end of the city and take the I-55 bridge which is just a mile or so south of the I-40 bridge. Or cross the river at Helena, Ar.
Those Memphis/Shelby County/TN LEOs can over go half way across that bridge...
Arkansas starts in the middle..
what are they hoping to achieve..
the AR police wont want them...
It is that and more.
It is the liberal leaders using blacks,as weapons against their enemies.
It is about murdering as many white people as possible.
It is about disarming as many whites as possible. And destroying the 2a for safety reasons.
It is about pushing the mantra against the cops. Who are mostly white.
It is about keeping up divide and conquer techiques so we do not focus on the liberal/uniparty leaders and what they are doing. Aka it took hillary right off the front page.
There are always multiple goals and agendas for everything the do.
