What I watched for the next two hours was mostly a tragic underutilizing of four of this country's funniest women Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon as the evil-ectoplasm battlers of the title, fighting to save a New York that is played primarily by Boston combined with what felt like the world's longest laser-tag game.
the main performers rarely get to display their individual idiosyncratic strengths. It's particularly dispiriting to hear McCarthy, one of the most floridly gifted verbal riffers in comedy, have to utter frat-brah catchphrases like "Let's do this."
That kind of lifeless, recycled language sounds even worse when Wiig, another performer who has perfected how to do things with words, cries out, "Say hello to my little friend" before zapping a spook in the film's near-interminable final act, a glut of green beams that suggests nothing more than an f/x trade show. (Look how much technology has advanced since 1984!)

Hope this POS does the ol’ crash and burn at the box office. That’s the only thing Hollyweird honchos understand, commercial failure.

It will,I guarantee it.

Racist trash film
Oh that is hilarious, I have never heard that one before.
The makers are going to be shocked at how little the targeted female audience is willing to pay to see this movie...
On the radio a couple of days ago they described how toys associated with this new movie were already in the discount rack at a major store chain.
love Wreckless Eating... my favorite episode

thats hilarious!!
It looks like they pulled the article. Can’t disrupt the misogyny narrative.
Wish you’d posted the entire thing.
I like to get to the point and the first half of the review was her talking about technical difficulties the screening
Please stop defending Feig! This crazy idea that this disaster is not his fault is nonsense!
Pleased to say that I have no idea who any of these females are.
According to the hacked Sony emails, the script was written by Feig from a storyline he submitted to the studio.
He’s as much to blame as anyone in this
Yep. See #37
I think you’re missing the point. Feig is the one who came up with the storyline and submitted it to Sony. Sony didn’t “saddle” him with anything. It was his idea and they accepted it.
