The Council On Foreign Relations member Gingrich is really lusting after that second spot on the Trump ticket. The GOP backroom powers may be foisting Newtie on Trump in order to make his candidacy more palatable to them. Much like their insertion of Cheney on Bush II's candidacy. They want Newtie to be the puppeteer who will be pulling Trump's strings.

Don't fall for this Trump! You can do much better than this political insider.

Gingrich's tenure as Speaker and his marriage are bad propaganda.

Trump’s smart to flatter and involve Newt—but not put him on his ticket.

Jeff Sessions is the obvious route to go.

Gingrich is too old, and has too much Clinton era baggage. I’d rather see General Flynn as VP. Gingrich could be Chief of Staff or something.

Newt often shoots from the lip. It’s a bad choice, for that and other reasons. One being Newt would be most valuable in some other role, with his knowledge of how DC politicking works.

newt has been one of the few insiders who has not treated trump poorly. he has a lot to offer. to take on entrenched interests trump is going to need those that understand the differing motivations and is willing to cross the power block represented by Romney, Bush and McCain...

Better choice: Gen. Flynn.

Newt’s like a stalking crazy ex-girlfriend. If he’s rejected, there’s no telling what he might do. If he’s nominated, there’s no telling what he might do. He should never have been given the scent of the VP spot.

Gingrich, You’re Hired!

There are no good VP choices.
Gingrich, Joni, or Palin.

Newt would be the absolute worst running mate, and would self-destruct and bury the campaign within weeks.

[”If Trump offers the position and is serious about it...”]

TRUMP:”Newt, I’ve reached my decision and I would like you to be my running mate, are you interested”?

NEWT:”Are you really serious”?

TRUMP:”I WAS until you asked that”

I still think Newt has already been offered another position within a Trump administration. This is just window dressing designed to keep the media busy speculating on the VP choice, and for Trump to have a little fun messing with their heads. The VP choice was probably made weeks ago.

There are certainly concerns with any prospective veep candidate, and Gingrich has as many or more concerns as any of the others.

HOWEVER, I would love to see Gingrich REDEFINE the role of President of the Senate. And I’m pretty sure he’d do so.

I do not believe it will be Flynn.

First, he is a registered Democrat. The Democrat issue will not go over well with Republicans. How can you stay a Democrat after the last 7 1/2 years of pure nonsense?

Second, and most important, Trump has been repeatedly telling us he was going to pick someone with legislative experience. Someone who knows how to work with Congress to get legislation passed. Flynn has zero experience with Congress.
