Trump said he'd go after Clinton like nobody else could or would. But his attacks have been low-energy and ineffective. One of his selling points, which he reiterated frequently, was that he alone had the cojones to go after Hillary Clinton. He promised he would.
Amid a flurry of more exciting tweets and speech moments, he has continually critiqued her judgment, energy level, campaign ability, and character. Hes tested out insults, landing on Crooked Hillary as his choice.
In June, he promised hed ramp up attacks against her. He spent weeks saying hed go after her, finally doing so toward the end of June. It was fine but didnt really land a punch. Politico said the teleprompter-delivered speech was subtler and more conventional than his other campaign rhetoric.
------------------------------------------------- ...the last two weeks would have been an absolute gift from the electoral gods. A sober and well-documented report linked Hillary to the failings and deaths in Libya. It showed how she had made the bombing and destabilization of Libya central to her State Department tenure, making her unable to follow other international groups who protected their workers there by removing them. Suggesting she didnt want to admit defeat of something her advisors planned to make a centerpiece of her upcoming presidential campaign, she resisted repeated recommendations to pull Americans from Benghazi.
As for corrupt email practices, recent days saw Bill Clinton secretly meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch on a tarmac, Hillary suggesting shed keep Lynch as AG after her election, Hillary meeting with FBI agents investigating the scandal, leaks to CNN just hours after that meeting saying shed get away with everything, and a 10-minute denunciation by the FBI director of everything Hillary had claimed about the email scandal. It reeked to high heaven of corruption.

Timing is everything.
I don’t think right now is the right time, do you after what just happened in Dallas? I mean really, lets have some respect for the lives lost...
The Federalist is a never Trump piece of trash
I think now would be a good time for Trump to remind us of how the New Yorkers pulled together after 9/11. That was truly inspiring and would be great for him to help bring us together.
He’s called her a liar and a crook. I think that’s a nice start.
I have heard him say numerous things that NO OTHER REPUBLICAN WOULD DARE HAVE SAID.
He’ll get going even stronger - right after the convention.
are they ever going to have a debate?
I think Trump has lightened some of his approach while seeking to attract donors with lots of cash. Some of these donors are worried about his rhetoric, and tendency to speak abrasively. Whereas, many of Donald’s biggest fans are attracted to him for the same reasons.
I expect after he has officially secured the nomination, and after he has weathered all the BLM foolishness that will be thrown his way, Donald may return to form closer to Labor Day, or as the debates approach. I’m hoping that’s what is going on.
I’m guessing this column was written prior to the attack in Dallas. I’m sure the speech he was scheduled for today, but cancelled, would have taken all the latest things into account. This is early summer, few people, except for political junkies, are paying much attention. His acceptance speech will most likely have 150 MILLION viewers, and that is where he can really make his mark, because that will probably be the first time most of those watching will have heard one of his speeches all the way through.
Wake me up when Mollie Hemingway beats 16 Republican challengers for the nomination...
After the conventions...3 of them.
Trump’s statement on Dallas today was heartfelt and very Presidential. He’s doing fine.
I’d give it a little more time. Hitlery is hanging herself slowly. Give her a little more rope.
To be fair, he has been dealing with his self-inflicted Twitter challenges. The day Hillary was exonerated, Trump and his campaign were discussing Iraq instead of coordinating a unified message on Hillary, the Lynch meeting, and the Obama-Clinton corruption axis.
That was a wonderful opportunity and it was squandered because of the total lack of message control - and timing as another poster points out above.
The Greeks had the perfect term for this aspect of rhetoric - especially political - Kairos.
Yup. Trump is waiting until after the nomination. If all these people are such experts, why don’t they put up $50 million, travel from coast to coast doing a half dozen rallies a week, and run for office on five hours of sleep a day.
What a crock article. There’s plenty of time after the convention for a full court press. Right now he has a convention to get through next week. And in case no one noticed, there’s rioting in the streets by the scum buckets, occupying all of the MSM’s time. Geez. Everyone gets off on criticizing or giving advice to Trump. They should shut their traps upp and help him, not hinder him and nitpick him to death. People like this article’s author are part of the problem. Sheesh.
I would say after the convention. He’ll get nasty enough to tick off a few delegates if done before.
I notice watching today show in the morning they constantly show clips of Trump saying nothing but crooked Hillary, Liar over and over. Never see anything of substance that he says at his rallies- but that is how they are showing his rallies...Hillary on the other hand, gets full clips of what she is talking about...
Yep...The Federalist is where all those zotted from here have gone to cry....
