Dallas police used bomb robot to kill shooting suspect
By James Rogers Published July 08, 2016 FoxNews.com
Dallas police used an explosive device attached to a robot to kill a suspect in the coordinated sniper attack that killed five officers Thursday, in what experts say is a first for law enforcement.
In a press conference Police Chief David Brown explained that the robot was deployed on the second floor of El Centro College in downtown Dallas following a standoff early Friday.
We cornered one suspect and we tried to negotiate for several hours - negotiations broke down, we had an exchange of gunfire with the suspect, he said. We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot and place a device on its extension for it to detonate where the suspect was, he said.
Brown explained that other options would have exposed the police officers to great danger.
The police chief confirmed that the suspect was killed by the bombs detonation, noting that reports the suspect killed himself were inaccurate.

At this point, it looks like it wasn’t coordinated, and it wasn’t a sniper attack. I can see why the Dallas P.D. wouldn’t want that to get out for several months.
Better alternatives for the standoff.
Usually police wait the suspect out. What was the damn rush that they needed to blow him up ASAP?
Give law enforcement an inch, they'll take a mile.
I am very serious. You think they should shut down an entire large metropolitan area’s commercial, educational, and judicial system for one clown hiding in a parking garage?
If that’s the case, then they shouldn’t even try to arrest him.
“Usually police wait the suspect out. What was the damn rush that they needed to blow him up ASAP?”.....
Would you want even more cops killed? Not me, he needed killing and that was the safest way to get the job done and quickly. End of story...”He’s gone to hell”.
Then, he would have cleverly slipped out of their trap...
Two things no such thing as foolish question just foolish answers Also there is no such thing as illegitimate children just illegitimate parents
---Records show that the Dallas County Sheriff Department and neighboring Duncanville Police Department each own a MARCbot, another commonly-used bomb disposal robot.
However, in previous images seen of the Dallas Police department using bomb disposal robots, they appear to actually use a Northrop Grumman Remotec Andros F6A or F6B, a standard model for police and military use. It's highly customizable, and can look very different depending on which configuration of arm and sensors are configured. The closest known Andros resides in Comal County, Texas, 250 miles away.

“Upon reflection, why didnt they just starve him out?”
Exactly. The cost of the now destroyed robot, the cost of the explosive, and the cost of the coming litigation would easily have covered the expense of stationing officers to wait for the guy to either surrender, make a run for it, or kill himself.
The police ignored the law. They’re a big family, and this demonic POS killed some of their family, so they went for instant payback. Sure, it saves the taxpayer money for his incarceration, court costs, and eventual execution, but that’s not how the law works. If a demon murders one of my family, I’m not allowed to shoot him or blow him up once I have him cornered, but these guys are apparently exempt.
How many FReepers on this thread that are okay with blowing the guy up feel the same way about Ruby Ridge, Mt Carmel, and many similar executions by LEOs?
C'mon, dammit, tell me why this is not the same damned thing.
FR seems to drift further and further each year to a very dark place.
The next Iron Man is to be a black woman...
Not even interested.
C'mon, dammit, tell me why this is not the same damned thing.
Why is it "the same damned thing"?
The Dallas guy was, without question, a murderer refusing to submit to arrest.
Whatever Randy Weaver and the Branch Davidians might've been guilty of, if anything, didn't approach a capitol offense.
Not "the same damned thing" at all.
What is that from?
Do you always stick your nose into other people’s conversations? ‘Your guy’ Al needs you to speak for him/herself?
Mind your own business.
Apparently you do
I agree. I’m also disgusted with many of the comments that flat out are in favor of ignoring the basic principles of our form of government and justice system. One of the primary concepts that sets us apart from the damn libtards is that we support the rule of law. Once ‘we’ start ignoring it, there’s little setting ‘us’ apart from the enemy.
Go get yourself a dog, chump.
Just wondering, does your screen name have any relevancy with the late William Cooper of the “Hour of the Time”, CAJI, and Show Low?
