Never let it be said that Newt Gingrich is predictable.
As the political world waits to see if the former Georgia congressman and U.S. House speaker gets tapped to be Donald Trumps running mate, Gingrich teamed up with his former Crossfire partner Van Jones to discuss this weeks shootings in Dallas, Baton Rouge and Minnesota.
Speaking on Facebook Live, Gingrich was his typically direct self. But, in this age of polarized politics, whether it be of the electoral or racial variety, Gingrichs comments were also remarkable. Here is the key quote:
It took me a long time, and a number of people talking to me through the years to get a sense of this. If you are a normal, white American, the truth is you dont understand being black in America and you instinctively under-estimate the level of discrimination and the level of additional risk.

I actually like Newt, but not for the VP spot. And his bringing in her name to so many of his conversations simply runs me up the wall :-) Very annoying.
Scratch Newt off the list. Now i’m for Marsha Blackburn.
Liar. I've had this conversation with my son. Don't talk back to the cop and call me ASAP.
While I think Newt is a conservative at heart, a brilliant one at times, first and foremost he’s all about Newt. And the way for a politician to best advance their own personal interests is to play the establishment game and sell their self to the establishment. Newt has shown he’s more than willing to do this.

I don’t think black Americans understand being white. We are constantly under the racial microscope. We don’t get the same benefits but we do get the derision. Blacks in the lower and middle strata are arguably better off than whites in the lower andd middle classes. Being black in 2016 is an advantage.
but they tell me stories daily of being discriminated against, and I’ve witnessed some of it.
Nailed it.
There is more that one way the Politicians get rich making us poor
And more than just the economic type of poverty too.
They have gotten rich and powerful while pushing us into spiritual and ethical poverty as well- which is much worse than economic poverty

90% of Black America is addicted to the Democrats/Left. We will not be able to help them until they go cold turkey and abandon the booze/drugs handed out by the pimps of the progressive left. They have to make the first move unfortunately.
Newt’s right.
Most white Americans have no idea what it’s like to be black... and white liberal elites have the least idea of all.
That said, even though Newt’s right - it might have been better to save the comment until tomorrow. Today we grieve for the senseless murders committed by black monsters.
Tomorrow we’ll work to understand...

I support Newt for VP - in part because of his ability to step back and see the larger picture.
Gingrich just did an unforced error to himself.
what an idiot.
Yes, they are going after the black vote.
I guess it took this to remind everyone on this forum what a flake Newt is. I would like to again suggest Allen West for VP.
Either we all stand before God, under the exact same rule of law, with everyone held to the exact same expectations, given the same authorities, and tasked with the same responsibilities - or we start killing each other.
“I once had a black person accuse me of being born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I had to stop him right there and explain that my father was a blue collar member of the United Auto Workers, and my mother didnt work at all. She stayed home to raise children. There was no wealth or privilege in my home as a child. I had no special advantage growing up other than what I could do with my own talents and abilities and mostly hard work.”

Had a chick lecture me on white privilege on a first (and last) date. When I explained that I grew up as 1 of 9 kids in a single-earner blue collar family, she said it didn’t matter. I was only able to raise myself out of those humble beginnings because I was white, and a black man wouldn’t have been able to do that.
I told her she should prevent me from further exercising my white privilege by dating a black man instead. I put a twenty on the bar and left.
