Months after Donald Trump appeared to seal the Republican nomination for president, anti-Trump forces still have one last chance to force a vote on the partys convention floor that would throw open the GOP contest again.
Its a long shot, but by some counts they are remarkably close to getting past the first hurdle next week in Cleveland.
Mr. Trumps intraparty foes, led by a group of rogue delegates, are waging an intense behind-the-scenes effort to push the Republican National Conventions Rules Committee for a vote on freeing delegates to back whom they wish, rather than being bound to Mr. Trump.
The presumptive nominees team is fighting back just as vehemently, with an organized campaign of dozens of aides and volunteers. Its a power struggle that has prompted threats of reprisals and left many Republicans anxious that it could hurt the partys prospects in November.
The anti-Trump camp needs the backing of 28, or one-quarter, of the 112 Convention Rules Committee members, in order to place the issue before the full convention. A Wall Street Journal survey suggests it could be close.
All involved in counting votes say those numbers fluctuate on a day-to-day basis. If the provision gets the necessary committee votes when the panel meets beginning next Wednesday, it would place the issue before the full convention, where it would need 1,237 voteshalf the delegatesto pass.
Though a majority of the convention delegates are bound to support Mr. Trump, Mr. Evanss count shows just about 890 delegates are personally loyal to the New Yorker. Another 680 oppose Mr. Trump. That leaves 900 delegates who are presumed to be in play, he said. The stop-Trump forces would have to take nearly two-thirds of them to block his nomination.

Isn’t Trump going to Washington tomorrow? Might be interesting day if he is going to Washington.
Any delegate that does not vote as their state has decided, had better just walk out into lake Erie and see if they can hold their breaths until they get to Canada.
More hot air!
Cruz would be a damn fool to take the nomination after a coup at the convention. If he thinks Trump is a loser against Hillary, the smart play is to man up, endorse Trump and not piss off his supporters, and run again in 2020. Cruz would finish in 3rd place after Trump makes a bid as an independent instantly creating the “America First” party. It would completely shatter the GOP into irrelevance.
Tar and feathering is within reach.
The sad part is, the GOPe is willing to use the Mutually Assured Self Destruction to be rid of Trump and give it to Hillary, in order to maintain the status quo. If they get Trump out, who do they nominate? no one with the gravitas to overcome the anger, etc. It would have to be a throw away candidate or someone at the end of their career who is promised a parachute after the failed bid. (not Ryan, he wants to run in the future). So? A “political suicide bomber” could take out the entire convention nomination process.
This will be about as effective as the Democrats sit-in on Capitol Hill. Personally, anyone not supporting Trump should be disinvited. Starting with any known Cruz supporters.
Havent you noticed that no weapon formed against Donald Trump has prospered? Why would that be?
Isaiah 54
17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
And their righteousness is from Me, Says the LORD.

Every time Donald Trump says, “I love you!” to a crowd, I am reminded when Jesus said:
John 13
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

He is holding off to use it to get a speaking spot at the convention. He will endorse, and he will speak. Fair trade.
Not this crap again!
Newspapers making news. Gotta sell papers.
They could nominate Carly Fiorina she has nothing to lose and very little to gain and she did it once already for Cruz.
If this even gets close to happening, it would be the end of 160 years of the Republican party. By the next election cycle, it would be replaced. And if the No-Trumpers do succeed, they should nominate Mark Kirk. He could be the poster-child for useless Republicans. That way Paul Ryan could run in 4 years, with the same support level as Gary Johnson.
Remember the outcry when News Corp bought the WSJ - everyone thought they were going to ruin it by taking it to “far right”!! Now they are just shilling for the nevertrumpers and by extension the lying criminal and her rapist husband.
No thanks WSJ! Take your paywall and shove off!
I’d like to see Cruz hold a rally of his supporters. Maybe he could fill a high school auditorium.

Trump winning in a landslide.
Looks like I must put up my WARNING again. Maybe I’ll need to start posting this DAILY.
Medved and Erikson would be so gleeful if they did put Yeb! in as the candidate...
Why post this drivel? There is zero chance Trump will not be nominated at the convention.
