My grandparents ran the MOMON HOUSE where the railroaders stayed and ate between the Indianapolis-Chicao-Louisville routes All stopped in Monon. The staff on the trains were all friends of the family. It was common for dad (jr) to put us on the train and travel North to grandmas or south to my cousins houses In college I’d take the train home for a day and return in time for curfew. When grandpa died leaving grandma a widow with 7 , it was the railroad men who would drop off shoes or a basket of pears or a dozen eggs They and their families were family. Never had need of a sleeper car but was always treated extremely well Knew I was safe and loved when I rode the Boilermaker Special.
Good morning, nikos and FRiends! Same I hear on social media, they keep telling each other what an evil, liar, cheater, racist, ignorant man he is and, with righteous indignation, say that they will never vote for such a person. Yes, the media has convinced them..everyone with an R next to them is evil. They are so understanding of Hillary, Benghazi happened only because the Republicans held funds that would have gone to provide more security for the embassy....everything is the fault of the Republicans, if it weren’t for them, the left would give us Utopia.
Thanks for the new thread, nikos. Good morning all.
The Hoosierline is a Trump Line
I am having yogurt, fresh berries and a large glass of water with lemon squeezed in it.
I have pleasant thoughts too. I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Japan. You get on their trains, and all the old Pullman silver is there. They serve you first class.
REmember when it was the in thing to take a train from New York to LA if you were a movie star in the 30s. I know eventually planes, but even then, people loved the trains... which probably were going faster than they do now.
I’d take the train from Chicago to Peoria when in Medical school. You’d make it to the outskirts of Peoria like in 1 1/2 hrs, which is less time than you’d go by car....Then it would take you 45 minutes to make it in, because of bad track. They had the train going 10 MPH. This went on the entire time. I bet you Amtrak still hasn’t fixed it.
Sell off Amtrak to the private sector, then you’ll see.
Amtrak bought or took over the monon because they could not afford to keep the trains running. The good news is more passenger lines have been reopened If one is planning on going into Chicogo for a day or weekend it is usually cheaper to take the train.
Remember the special trains they had to take fans to a baseball game. Now that was an experience! Filled to point of. Standing room only
Day trip with several stops along the way to pick up and drop off the fans.
Of course drinking was allowed on train. So it was also my first experience dealing with drunks.
My cousin lived and worked in Japan for several decades. He lived in a beach condo but took a breakfast train to work every morning. Said it was faster than living closer and taking other public transportation.
Head of FBI having news conference shortly.
I hope justice will be served.
Oh...we’re eating healthy today, Poodle?
After this weekend I thought that might be a good idea.
Good morning nikos and all, we returned home last Friday after 7-days without electricity. Happy to be home but extremely exhausted. Have been slowly catching up on things, restocking the fridge, washing down the ash and soot, sorting through 8-days worth of mail and other things that needed attending to.
Thanks to all for their kind wishes and thoughts, they helped us get through this experience!
She posted it for me. I must eat healthy Fatty liver started when I finally gained weight in my thirties to get over 100. (125). Dr didn’t think much of it. Weight continued to add each time A new diet to lose added on more weight. Finally now we have Internet and a diet to get it in control is available. Am having to educate medical staff. They assume fatty liver is a drinkers problem. It is not. Sometimes it is inherited.
And can be corrected through diet.
Isn’t Hill & Bammy campaigning in NC today too?
So good to hear from you. You will continue to be in prayers during this adjustment time. Must be stressful
Yep they are speaking at an Educator Conference
