Family Sues TSA for Beating Their Deaf, Blind and Brain Damaged Teen Daughter Bloody at Airport
Daily Sheeple ^ | 7/1/2016 | Melissa Dykes

Yet another example of an innocent American attempting to travel by plane in the U.S. (Pic: WREG)

It seems people aren’t just suing the TSA for missing their flights these days.

An 18-year-old partially deaf girl, blind in one eye and with limited ability to walk and talk, spent 17 years of her life travelling between Chattanooga and Memphis for treatment of her brain tumor at a children’s hospital. Her last experience returning home from treatment via the Memphis Airport, however, left her beaten, blooded, and locked up in a Shelby County jail like the potential terrorist the TSA thinks she is.

Via Reason:

When Hannah went through the metal detector at the airport, an alarm went off. Disoriented by the noise, she did not immediately cooperate with TSA agents who asked to conduct further screening.

Shirley Cohen tried to inform the agents about her daughter’s disabilities, she told television station WREG, but airport police kept her away. That’s when the situation between Hannah and the TSA officials became violent:

“She’s trying to get away from them but in the next instant, one of them had her down on the ground and hit her head on the floor. There was blood everywhere,” said [Shirley].

The family is suing for a “reasonable sum not exceeding $100,000 and costs.” Reason reports that when asked about it, (an apparently heartless) TSA spokeswoman responded with, “passengers can call ahead of time to learn more about the screening process for their particular needs or medical situation.”

Oh really? Can they call ahead to learn more about how TSA agents have little to no discernment whatsoever between a suspected terrorist and a scared teen with mental and physical disabilities? Can a traveler call to find out just what kind of abuse they are most likely to receive from TSA thugs if they are already unfortunate enough to suffer from a “medical situation” when they are going to fly on a plane?

Versions of this same story come out of airports so often, the nation has sadly gotten used to this open show of innocent Americans being beaten like slaves at airports.

Back many years ago I applied for that position because I was out of work and desperate. I took that test for being an agent and it’s really really hard. You look at pictures on a computer screen that are X-rays of stuff and you have to pick out what’s dangerous. Makes me wonder how anyone can pass it. I don’t consider myself a dumbbell and I have good eyes. Just saying...

Although I don’t like to blame the victim (in this case the victim’s parents); but I am deaf and have multiple artificial joints that set off alarms, and when I approach a TSA screening area, I simply advise the first screener who looks at the tickets and ID that I am deaf and have joint replacements. In every case, TSA pulls me aside and walks me through the security process. I have never had a problem.

This is sickening. Simply sickening. I cannot imagine what it would be like to be the parent of this person, not allowed to mediate the situation as their daughter is assaulted.

We never fly anymore because we just don’t want to expose ourselves to the tyranny.

This is all part of reparations for slavery. When some idiot says we need reparation make sure you explain it started 8 years ago.

Sounds familiar, recommended reading:
Unintended Consequences by John Ross

It’s a long, but very good read. Also, here are some reviews: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/78082.Unintended_Consequences

Stanford Prison Experiment brought to life with the weakest-minded the quickest to adopt their role of guard and convict, respectively.

flight free since Sept 2002...

I haven't been on a plane since 911, didn't much care for flying even before that. It might be age or it might be the world we live in, but I don't feel like I've deprived myself of anything.

Far, far worse than the execrable Donald Trump is the salaciously evil Hillary Clinton.

Ha got you beat by 3+ years. Jan 1999 was my last flight.

Also by choice. In 2003 I drove across America rather than fly.

I feel badly for the young lady who had a horrible experience at the hands of a few TSA agents. Hopefully this is a very isolated incident and perhaps there may be more to this story that we are getting. With that said, let me pass the following experience to you readers.

My wife, myself and two other couples (our friends) recently took an extended cruise to Alaska which required traveling on very crowded flights to Vancouver, CA and from Anchorage, AK. Obviously both of the flights to and from our destinations required going through TSA screening. (By the way, my wife is handicapped and required a wheel chair to travel through each airport. She has multiple “metal” parts in her body due to various prior operations). I can truthfully say that the TSA agents that screened ourselves and our friends were HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL and treated all of us with the utmost respect and courtesy. At NO TIME did any of those agents disrespect anyone.

While in Anchorage, we had occasion visit a federal building with security guards at the entrances. Once again, the agents (who happened to be black men) were very courteous and professional and treated us with highest respect and courtesy.

There are thousands of TSA employees and it is highly unfortunate that the “good” employees are blamed for the acts of but a few.

Use of Force must always be "reasonable and necessary." Use of force against a person who is most likely the adult dependent of her parent due to cognitive impairment is not going to look good in court. The government will say that their interest is the safety and security of the airport, but good luck having a TSA be able to articulate those facts, especially in court.

TSA does it again.....
