Donald Trump met with potential VP pick Indiana Gov. Mike Pence Friday, according to the New York Times.
Pence is believed to be on Trump's vice presidential shortlist, which the presumptive nominee has said is down to four or five people.
Mr. Trump is meeting with a number of Republican leaders in the run-up to the convention in Cleveland, and he has a good relationship with Governor Pence, Trump communications director Jason Miller told the Times when asked about the meeting.
Trump previously said that he wouldnt make his VP announcement until the Republican National Convention later this month, but his team is reportedly considering acting more quickly and could reveal the decision as early as next week.

Cruz needs to first, leave and reenter the USA legally.
Because he’s suburban nice, and likewise will assuage George Will voters.
His caving on a religious freedom bill under big business-corporatist pressure last year stands out like a sore thumb.
Who do you think that would be? And why?
Pence beats Newt, Christie and Corker by a long shot. I’d never vote for a ticket that contained these last 3.
RINO Corker is my US Sen and he is loathed as a liberal, all it would do is divert him from being Tennessee governor.
Would like to see some Constitutional Conservative Governors on that list. Christie is not a Conservative. Newt is poison to conservatives.
Trump would not have picked a guy whom he had already accused of not being Constitutionally qualified to be president. That would be political suicide.
Trump has already proven that he wasn’t faking during the primary, so I’m not worried about his vp like I was in the past.
As a nation whose motto is “In God we trust,” it makes sense that the LORD knows who would be best to serve as Vice President.
GEORGE WASHINGTON’S first act as President was to pray this prayer:
My first act as President is a prayer. I ask you to bow your heads. Heavenly Father, we bow our heads and thank You for Your love. Accept our thanks for the peace that yields this day and the shared faith that makes its continuance likely.
Make us strong to do Your work, willing to heed and hear Your will, and write on our hearts these words: Use power to help people. For we are given power not to advance our own purposes, nor to make a great show in the world, nor a name. There is but one just use of power, and it is to serve people. Help us to remember it, Lord.
The Lord our God be with us, as He was with our fathers; may He not leave us or forsake us; so that He may incline our hearts to Him, to walk in all His ways that all peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God; there is no other. Amen.

The timeline is not in favor for Pence as VP.
He’s in a race for re-election and cannot run for both Governor and VP.
A replacement would have to be done like...NOW, and would probably end up with IN getting Democrat John Gregg elected. Who would be a total disaster for the state.
Donald Trump has interviewed, hired, and fired many people. I deem it reasonable to trust him to select a VP. I’m sure he has lots of advice.
Pence voted for and endorsed Cruz. He said months ago he didn’t want to be considered for VP.
Is Indiana a key swing state? Why would Trump reward a guy who came so late to backing Trump. I just don’t get it.
I always liked Pence but he’s not real forceful and I don’t see him as a good surrogate for Trump in the general campaign. Newt would fill that role better.
