Shocking: Disabled Teen Returning From St. Jude's Hospital Bloodied and Arrested by TSA
PJ Media ^ | July 1, 2016 | Julie Prince

Getting through the line at the TSA can be a long and uncomfortable process. For one Chattanooga teen and her mother, the process turned into a scary nightmare.

19-year-old Hannah Cohen was returning home from St. Jude's Hospital with her mother for treatment of her brain tumor (a trip they had made for 17 years), when Hannah somehow set off the metal detector at the security checkpoint.

TSA wanted to do a further scan on Hannah, but she was reluctant. Hannah's mother, Shirley Cohen, tried to inform the agents that her daughter was disabled. She is partially deaf and blind in one eye, paralyzed, and becomes easily confused. “They wanted to do further scanning, she was reluctant, she didn't understand what they were about to do," she said.

Despite her concerns, Shirley was kept away from her daughter by police. Hannah, obviously afraid, tried to get away from the grips of the TSA. “She's trying to get away from them but in the next instant, one of them had her down on the ground and hit her head on the floor. There was blood everywhere,” said Shirley.

The teen was arrested, booked, and sent to jail. “Here we were with nowhere to go, not even a toothbrush, our bags had gone to Chattanooga,” said the distraught mother.

If you mean people incapable of doing something complex like a “shovel ready job”, I agree.

Shame? From a government?

This is government in all its glory - brutal, senseless, violent, cowardly.

Remember that next time someone advocates for a government program meant to “stop terrorists” (like this one) or “protect children” (the other major excuse for implementing tyranny).

When I applied for Global Entry status in Cincinnati, my DHS examiner was a black muslim guy.

His name was spelled differently on his badge and on the name plate of his office desk which made me curious.

I asked to see his supervisor who turned out to be a Moochelle Obama type. So that wasn’t too helpful either.

I cannot deal with this stuff-—what the hell have we become?

But God forbid that we profile,we might hurt feelings.

This only happened because she was white and not Muslim.

READ THE STORY.. I’ve never called anyone names here, but you deserve one.

The TSA JBT that did this needs to go to St. Jude’s and be made to work there until his head is aware of the pain he caused.

TSA representative Sari Koshetz made a statement saying, “Passengers can call ahead of time to learn more about the screening process for their particular needs or medical situation.”

And how many people even know about that? It is not exactly front and center on the TSA website. You can find it if you poke around the site--and I wonder how many people even think about consulting the TSA website prior to travel.

There must have been a really bad apple on duty that particular day. The treatment of that poor girl was awful. I'm surprised the family is only suing for $100,000. That raises my respect for the family, since too many people would see the incident as a chance to try to get rich but they don't.

“I was in a wheelchair with a cane (bad knee injury) and they made me get out of the chair.”

My spouse travels by air in a wheelchair (her own). If you use a airline chair and have a cane, they will rightfully assume you can get out of the chair.

What kind of lawyer would file a lawsuit for $100,000 after an episode like this? Good grief - go for the big money and let them come down. You don’t start at the bottom!

I can’t find a date of when this happened. This sounded like it just happened but not if the lawsuit was filed already.

I would sue for more, but would never keep it.

I would donate it to St. Judes.

They could cover it 24X7 and the pigs at the trough might pause for a couple of seconds before going back to voting themselves free stuff.
