The Republican elites are not going down without a fight.
Donald Trump shattered the GOP primary record this year by more than a million votes.
He was running against 16 challengers another record.
But that wont stop the GOP elites from trying to steal the nomination.
The Weekly Standard today called on delegates to steal the nomination from Donald Trump at the Republican Convention this month.
The traitors would rather see Hillary win than support Donald Trump.
Bill Kristol at The Weekly Standard reported:
This election cycle hasnt been kind to Republican big shots. Their favorite presidential candidatesJeb Bush, Scott Walker and Marco Rubiofell short. Their opposition to Donald Trump was ineffectual, and their subsequent submission to him inglorious.
Now they have one last chance to do something that would bring credit to them and benefit to their party and country: Support the effort by hundreds of delegates to free themselves to vote their conscience at the GOP convention.
These delegates have been organizing from the bottom up. Their movement has more momentum than anyone thought possible a few weeks ago. But the delegates are under intense pressure from the Trump campaign and from RNC apparatchiks to buckle under. Republican governors, senators and congressmenwho privately acknowledge what a disaster Trump would becan do one thing to help. They can provide air cover to delegates risking their careers charging on foot the entrenched batteries of the party establishment.
They dont have to do much. They dont have to attack or oppose Trump publicly. All they have to say is that delegates should vote their conscience, that doing so is in the finest traditions of the party, and that Republicans dont bully other Republicans. Just a few volleys from assorted GOP big guns could even up the odds, and give the brave enlisted men and women willing to do the right thing a chance to prevail.
The weekend of July 4 is a good time to step up. All that Republican leaders have to declare is that the convention delegates are, and of right ought to be, free and Independent, and that they are absolved from all allegiance to a nominee who would sully the name and damage the future of the Republican party.
Bill Kristol and the Weakly Standard sre mouthpieces for The Cheap Labor Express. Their preferred candidates, Rubio, Walker and Yeb! flamed out spectacularly because the citizens are sick of the illegal alien inundation.
The GOP elite don’t care.
Their purpose is to prevent the citizens from doing anything about the illegal alien inundation.
They will continue to undermine Trump because that is all they have left.
They will be openly supporting Hillary before long, some of them already are.
Anything to keep the people pipeline operating.
Nothing kept Kristol from pushing for a third party candidate.
No one’s taken him up on his offer.
What he writes is childish and puerile nonsense - and if it was ever seriously entertained, it would destroy the party.
But when you have nothing at stake, just incite against your party’s nominee.
That’s the way the #NeverTrumpers roll.
God Bless!
Amen!!! Don’t give a-holes like Hillary Kristol any attention. He desperately wants it and wants to be a player again. Leave him on the sidelines to wilt away.
That would be the end of the Republican Party
>>So...why hold elections at all? Hmmm? Why not allow the Uniparty to simply select someone, kind of like the EU does?
We must maintain the illusion that America is still a Republic.
If those little people would just vote as they are told, the they wouldn’t have to worry so much. The Elites are doing this for us because they care about the peasants entrusted to their care.
George Romney met with Alinsky; that’s all I need to know.
Ryan is a Dem.
Romney is a Dem.
We’ve been taken over in broad daylight.
You can only imagine my shame. ;)
“This election cycle hasnt been kind to Republican big shots ... Now they have one last chance to do something that would bring credit to them and benefit to their party and country”
Uh, yeah, right Bill. Those POOR “big shots”! But hey, maybe those POOR, DOWNTRODDEN “big shots” could redeem themselves and “bring credit” for themselves and their PARTY by STEALING the election in opposition to the majority of the party’s voters!
Are you INSANE, Bill? Why, I do believe you are!
Is it? Free Republic is about putting your head in the sand and not being aware of what others are doing?
They have been battling Trump since 6/16/2015!
Go Trump Go!
People don't pull over to watch cars driving safely down the highway. But they will slow down and even stop, to rubber-neck an injury accident. It's just human nature.
that they are absolved from all allegiance to a nominee who would sully the name and damage the future of the Republican party.
What this egomaniac fails to see is that the 14 million Trump voters may also not have any “allegiance” to the GOP. He’s too arrogant to notice that he needs us way more than we need him.
Given the never ending anti-Trump tantrums I guess it’s time for me to review the GOP ticket and remove another Republican from my ballot. I’m already not voting for Rubio. At this rate Trump will be the only GOP vote I cast in November.
What we need is like the EU model where national governments are like the JV team, and after the pols and bureaucrats have served their time or get voted out, they become eurocrats and begin to serve in the unelected supergovernment of the EU.
“... the National Review used to be conservative ...”
Bill Buckley has to be spinning in his grave.
I do think rubberneckers get a bad rap though. We are taught in driver’s ed to slow down in the vicinity of an accident. It makes it look like they’re gawking, but they’re mostly just being careful.
