CLEVELAND The relaxation of rules on protest marches during the upcoming Republican National Convention and the shrinking of a designated event zone downtown is an "important victory" for free speech rights, a civil rights group said Wednesday.
A federal judge said last week that the city's regulations for the four-day convention, which starts July 18, were unconstitutional and ordered city attorneys to negotiate new rules with the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio. The ACLU of Ohio had sued the city on behalf of two groups planning protests and rallies the first day of the convention and a homeless advocacy organization.
The amended rules announced Wednesday extend a designated parade route for protest marches, shrink the event zone where the rules would be enforced by roughly half and allow people who live within the zone, including the homeless, to carry banned items including bottles and cans.

Does anyone know for sure where the police stand?
That SandRat, depends on the Police.
If the decide to stand with the rioters, things could get very nasty, very nasty indeed.
If the police stand with the Patriots, things will be like they were in Bangor, Maine yesterday. Peaceful
The congress should rescind the law where ACLU gets paid to bring such law suits
The mayor of Cleveland has already instructed his chief of police to “go easy on those demonstrators, they have a right to protest against bigotry, hatred, & Islamophobia”.
This just in, “truth is always stranger than fiction” alert!!
Mayor Frank G. Jackson is the bearded biracial mayor of Cleveland who has warned his police department that “Excessive force will not be tolerated” and threatens to fire any city employee who moves out of Cleveland for safer environs. Also champions the “get illegal guns off our streets” movement (meaning out of private homes & private hands).
If the RNC wanted to choose a venue for the convention that guarantees city-sanctioned mob violence, they couldn’t have done any better. Oh, yeah, maybe Oakland or Newark.
The Mayor of Cleveland needs to have a little "accident".
