Scotland's government began moves Friday to hold a new referendum on independence from the U.K. after the "Brexit" vote, saying it faced being taken out of the European Union against its will.
Scots voted by 62 percent to 38 percent to remain in the EU, according to Friday's results, in contrast to the overall U.K.-wide result of 52 percent to 48 percent in favor of quitting the bloc.
A majority of voters in Northern Ireland also voted to remain in the EU, suggesting the U.K. faces internal constitutional upheaval as well as a contentious divorce from Brussels.

They voted to remain in the UK too.
They’ll vote to remain with ANYONE who will pay their bills for them.
lol
These idiots are assuming that people that voted to remain in the EU would want to leave Great Britain.
Wrong.
is that Scotland, CA?
Another benefit of Brexit for England.
Confused about this. Didn’t the SNP agree that the vote already taken would be the last, and they wouldn’t keep demanding another vote until it went their way?
They should join with Norway and form a Scandi Union.
The English should be the ones to vote on whether Scotland leaves the UK; the Scots had their vote on this already.
It will be interesting to see how the dilemma of remaining with the mystical entitlements of being and EU member juxtapose themselves against the benefits of inclusion with a UK entitlement and support system.
What has to be considered in the cold light of facts is just how ‘self supportable’ is Scotland. Industry, gross regional ‘product’, substantive value that would prompt a bureaucratic EU dealing with the clearly disastrous potential for its most southern partners nearing collapse to consider the added perks and benefits necessary for Scotland to quit UK and go full-bore EU.....
Just my two cents. I don’t think they know what they are doing.
Bah, predictable as rain. Same as the folks who were saying last night that the Brexit means that Ireland is reunified at long last, and Spain has taken back Gibraltar.
The more likely scenario is Ireland joining the UK commonwealth for the first time in more than 60 years. Not abandoning home rule, per se, but getting tighter with England.
What interesting times we live in...
The EU is failing. Scotland should wait before jumping on a dying horse.
Supposedly one of the reasons many wanted to stay in the UK was the EU. Now they don’t have at least that reason? So now they want to leave so then they can rejoin the EU. They must really dig the EU?
Freegards
That sound MUCH more likely.
But no way in heck is Scotland going to leave the UK completely and be an independent country.
Sinn Fein is also pushing for a vote to let Northern Ireland leave the UK and join Ireland.
Well, bye.
Scotland wants Independence but has no problem with being invaded by Muslims
It’s all bluster from the SNP. Scotland isn’t leaving GB for an EU run from Berlin.
Would be interesting to see of all the Moslem migrants now go straight to Scotland.
