Bah, predictable as rain. Same as the folks who were saying last night that the Brexit means that Ireland is reunified at long last, and Spain has taken back Gibraltar.

Economically, a united Ireland would be a drain on the Republic. Right now, the U.K. is spending more per northerner than on the residents of England. The Republic of Ireland doesn’t have the resources to keep up those kinds of payments. U.K. Naval installations in Northern Ireland would have to be decommissioned. Unification is a very, very big knot.
