Voting is under way in a historic referendum on whether the UK should remain a member of the European Union or leave. A record 46,499,537 people are entitled to take part, according to provisional figures from the Electoral Commission. Polling stations opened at 07:00 BST and will close at 22:00 BST. It is only the third nationwide referendum in UK history and comes after a four-month battle for votes between the Leave and Remain campaigns. In common with other broadcasters, the BBC is limited in what it can report while polls are open but you can follow the results as they come in across the BBC after polls close on Thursday evening.

Woodstock, Oxfordshire.
It may explain the issue. :)
Small Town U.S.A. is a lot like that.
But NYC and The Big Texas cities sure aren't ;)
I can't speak for our cops either.
You didn't manage to go shooting while you were here? :D
“Shooting”
Didn’t have enough time for playing.
Used to have my own Guns at that time, Rugers 357GP100, 44 Blackhawk.
Recoil and accuracy can go hand in hand, but rate of fire suffers. :D
When you first see them being carried openly on the street it does make you do a double take.
Unless you've officially renounced your British citizenship in accordance with their laws you're probably still British.US law allows for "dual citizenship" and I believe that Britain's does too.I'm eligible for Irish citizenship because my grandparents were born there. When I found this out I learned that I wouldn't lose my US citizenship.
wonder how far back that Irish citizenship thingy goes ???
My great grandparents were born in County Down..
I liked the UK.
I discovered Devonshire clotted cream and loved it! Wasn’t as enamored of chicken tikka masala as other people are. LOVED the fresh fish you could find pretty much everywhere! And thoroughly loved shopping in the Sloane Street district!
I think it's only two generations...whereas with many Western countries it's only one.
That is my understanding. I also am a dual citizen, of UK and USA. My dad was in the military and I was born over there during the window to be eligible.
I hate to keep saying it but I’ll believe leave when I see it.
In the special English edition of Deanna Durbin's "Nice Girl," a 1941 movie, she sings the song in a very moving rendition. I would hope that English patriots managed to play it over the airwaves during the campaign--that is if the powers that control the British airways would allow an expression of that sort.
When can we expect the results? It is just after 2 pm EDT.
I’m pessimistic as to whether this election even matters. A “leave” victory would not imply a mandate, so if “leave” wins the government will ignore the results.
The UK is going to be forced to accomodate Muslim, Greek, Spanish, and Scottish moochers for a long time to come.
Polls close 10pm their time, 5pm EST here...
Thank you. Do we have any information on turn out?
Said to be as high as 80%.
The markets and betting odds dont give me much hope, but they have been badly wrong before, most recently in the last election. Still plenty to play for in the last 2 1/2 hours polls remain open.
Results will start coming in around midnight uk time, so 7pm EST
Me too.
Thank you. I cant even tell you the full extent of hatred I have for those that have sold us out. I would not be exaggerating if I were to say I strongly believe the treason committed by every government since Thatcher, especially the last three should result in a mass hanging.
