The U.S. Supreme Court may weigh in this week on gun control, an issue smoldering again following the June 12 Orlando massacre, with the justices due to decide whether to hear a challenge by gun rights advocates to assault weapon bans in two states.
The Connecticut and New York laws prohibit semiautomatic weapons like the one used by the gunman who fatally shot 49 people at a gay night club in Orlando in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
The Supreme Court will announce as soon as Monday whether it will hear the challenge brought by gun rights groups and individual firearms owners asserting that the laws violate the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment guarantee of the right to bear arms.

That would mean that the lower courts decision banning the weapons would stand.
I’ve heard Trump bring it up several times.
Any weapon is an assault weapon if you assault somebody with it.
Sad to say but IMO the supreme court is a joke. It has been turned into a clown show that has more in common with “The View” than any legitimate authority on the Constitution.
Isn’t it amazing how quickly these assholes can pass laws that they want to?
They should all be tried and hanged for treason.
The Supreme Court has already ruled rights are not absolute. The have already limited guns at schools, government areas, and safe zones. And that was from Scalia’s opinion.
What’s even scarier is, once they “snap finger” them into existence, they’re nearly impossible to undo. What takes minutes to enact, takes years of hearings, reviews, and debates to remove. What’s up with that?
VERY bad timing for this. Making a judgement a short time after a major attack is the recipe for an emotional decision, not to mention that at least a couple justices are suspected of be homosexuals. Postpone the case for a year or so.
“”Massacre”?
September 11, 2001 was a massacre.”
What about the St Valentine’s day massacre?
They’re only going to decide ‘IF’ they’ll hear it in the next session which I believe isn’t until just before the (s)elections in NOV. They may choose to NOT hear/review it at all and leave the lower court rulings in place.
and 30/06. Even an old M1 Garand in 30/06 is far more lethal than an AR15. Those FMJ rounds just don’t want to stop. They’re like energizer bunny bullets-they just keep going and going and going. they’ll keep going after they go through a brick house.
I’ve not heard it, but I’ve only tuned in recently after avoiding the depressing world of politics for a long time. He needs to put it in every speech and emphasize how Democrat judges are not tough on crime and that’s why they’d rather focus on guns.
Again, it’s all in the caliber...
I’m a proud tinfoiler and I’ll never believe Scalia died, conveniently, in Bammy’s last year with enough time to jam in a liberal replacement.
But I guess we’ll never know since the family not only didn’t want an autopsy, but cremated him (or so I’ve been told).
Sigh. I never knew this country had so many so easily fooled.
And then I saw 2008. And 2012.
In the late 1800s the Turks bought thousands of 1866 Winchester lever action rifles for use against the Russians. Neither would be considered "military" today.
Here is a Maxim conversion of the 1866 Winchester to semi-auto, and J M Browning converted one of his lever action 1894 rifles to full auto.
if the lower court ruled for the ban, the tie goes to the lower court
You are too optimistic.
Scalia was murdered to assure the Obama final months
The scalia murder was the ultimate fourth quarter foul
Yeah, we’re in agreement there. I always thought he was taken out. It’s very easy for those with the ability to access things. As I’ve mentioned before, a 16-year-old took out her father with the same ease.
And the idiots let her back out on the street, under a new identity. Hope her hubby sleeps with one eye open. And don’t let her prep the food; that’s how she killed Daddy.
Ahhh yes the timing. Scalia dies suddenly at a resort, that he declined protection. Then now, this mass shooting where the shooter had been watched by the FBI but deemed not a threat.
I really believe they were told to look the other way and let this happen.
