But Frank Stelmach of Double Tap Shooting Range and Gun Shop invited me, videographer Michael Sheridan and reporter Adam Shrier to come down. Stelmach is not like many gun lovers. He admires his weaponry, yes, and has difficulty explaining why law-abiding citizens need a gun that can empty a 40-round magazine in a few seconds. But he also hates the idea that bad people get a hold of a gun like this and use it to kill without difficulty.
There should be expanded background checks extending into your family, friends and associates, he said. And there should be a mental health screening. In Europe, if you want to buy a gun, you have to see a doctor (for a psychiatric examination) to see if somethings not right.

The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don't know what you're doing. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions loud like a bomb gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.

It goes bang! Oh the horrors!
Ran home with tears in my eyes, kicked off my Berkinstocks, and curled up on the couch with some Earl Gray...
Should have used some quotes there... LOL
Bet he's just fine with the smell of another guy's a$$, though.
Dear Mr./Mrs. Gersh Kuntzman,
You are a female reproductive organ! ;-)
brass flew past my face ...
= = =
Never experienced that
But, have had neighboring shooter’s brass bounce around my neck collar.
Haven’t gone down my neck, yet.
Lol
The first time I fired an AR-15 was a horrible experience. Not only did the muzzle blast set the forest on fire but I broke both legs and my neighbor’s arm, and he was 5 miles away. The high-explosive bullet circled the earth and slaughtered the entire herd of baby seals behind me. Their CO was really mad about it, too. You’ve heard about Global Warming, no doubt? It was me. The surface of the moon was smooth, too, before the AR came along. Now look at it.
My daughter firing an H-bar. Actually she is just posing in the photo but we had been firing the gun all morning. Never even thought of it as being difficult to shoot.
He should have shot a CZ-52, you could get killed
by the flying brass alone.
“One of the pluses of the AR15 is that lack of recoil makes for more accurate followup shots. “
I’m not a gun guy. But I did learn to shoot an AR-15. And there a lot of very girly girls in the group I was with at the time. And not a one of them had any problem handling the AR-15s recoil. I had seen people on film and youtube getting hurt by recoil (other guns, I guess), and was expecting some, and was pretty amazed by the complete lack of it.
He's strutting his metrosexual feathers.
My 1937 Moisin-Nagant is loud, and it kicks like a cat. I had to put a recoil pad on the stock.
“kuntzman”??? The name fits this gender misfit. I wonder if this limp wimp wears panties.
An M79 Bloop would defiantly cause him to Poop everywhere.
Has the guy ever heard of wearing earmuffs while he fires his weapon? It’s always required at every gun range I’ve fired a handgun or rifle at. If he said he didn’t and it was at a gun range he’s a liar.
The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don’t know what you’re doing.
That’s the key. Ya gotta know what you’re doing.
I took my 110 lb niece out to the range property. She spent 2 hours shooting an AR, AK, 30-30 and a Kahr 9mm. The 12 gauge was the next time. She had a blast. Surprisingly good shot for a first timer.
Let’s call the gun range and ask Stelmach if he fired a weapon there without proper ear protection. Something a rangemaster would never allow. I smell BS on this story.
Like millions of others I was subject to the draft in 1970. Our basic training platoon consisted of about 50 of us. There was one who had serious trepidation about being able to handle and throw a hand grenade, which was a requirement for passing basic training.
After 15 or 20 minutes of coaching and encouragement from a platoon sergeant, he succesful completed the course.
Nobody had any trouble completing the rifle training. Nobody.
We are, in fact, at war with ISIS. As such, every eligible male should be prepared to defend themselves, their community, and their nation by taking arms against the enemy. How could this man possibly function in this most essential of civic duties?
He disgraces himself and the parents who raised him.
