TIJERAS Several hundred people whose homes, animals and ways of life are threatened by the Dog Head Fire heard Gov. Susana Martinez promise during a public meeting here Friday to commit more resources to help them through their ordeal.
Martinez told anxious Manzano Mountain area residents, jammed into the Roosevelt Middle School gym, that she has ordered more New Mexico National Guardsmen to provide security for neighborhoods that have been or may be evacuated, and that she would look into the possibility of making the fairgrounds at Expo New Mexico available to accept animals being removed from the path of the 26-square-mile fire.
By late Friday, the fire that started Tuesday six miles northwest of Tajique in Torrance County had burned 17,000 acres, destroyed two dozen homes and more than 20 other structures and forced of scores of people to leave their homes.

We dropped off cat litter, cat food and some litter boxes at the Los Vecinos Community Center for the pets that are staying there.
Still reporting zero percent containment.
The weather tomorrow will be 100+ in ABQ tomorrow. But the more critical prediction is that the wind will shift from the west to from the south on Sunday. There are many more homes north of the current fire area and there will be some moisture which could cause dry thunderstorms with gusty winds.
Thanks for reminding me - here is a link from the earlier thread with a variety of viewing selections.

Beautiful area .....hope Slim doesn’t get burnt out ...... prayers up.
In the top pix, notice how close the trees are to the smoldering ruins of the house. “But, we Love the trees!” carries a hefty price.

I left Bernalillo yesterday headed East and could see haze from the fire past Moriarty.
“Tijeras Slim posted he was evacuating this evening”.
Dang, that’s not good but hopefully he can go home soon.
A friend of mine lives on NM 217 and they are packed and ready.
Those who can, do, those who can't, sit on the sidelines and 'look into it'.
We bugged out, but when I went to go check the situation this AM there were no additional checkpoints so I went to my house to pick up a few more things. There now, fire has not gotten closer according to thermal maps. It’s a wind shift today they’re worried about.
Everything is OK.
GOOD !!
Good news! Thanks for the update.
I have a friend who lives off NM 217 and they are okay for now.

Pretty calm day yesterday, not much wind change. Not much closer to me according to map. Working as a volunteer at End of Trail this week, keeps me close to home and busy.
