HARRIS COUNTY (KTRK) -- As preparations continue for Donald Trump to take the stage in The Woodlands, authorities had to make an arrest at the rally location.
A man with a gun was taken into custody Friday afternoon in the parking garage of the hotel.
Many are braving the heat for a chance to be front and center when the presumptive Republican nominee speaks to supporters.
"Just because it's a once in a lifetime opportunity and we wanted to be part of it," said Kim Deal. "I think he's speaking to the heart of the American people. People are fed up."
She spent the night at the hotel and was outside as the first in line at 8:30am Friday. Quickly, the line grew behind her despite the oppressive heat.
"I agree with his views," said Kevin Somers, a Trump supporter who said standing in the heat was worth it. "I like his views on the border, social security, second amendment and I'm here to watch him make history."
"I want to sit out here because I want to vote for Donald Trump," said Diane Gabourel. "I believe in him and I think we need a change and I think the change is Trump. People either seem to love him or really not like him. Why do you think that is? Because he speaks the truth. He's very blunt. And he's different."
It was not only supporters here early. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office brought in an incident command center, limited access, and put up barriers for the safety of those attending and those who might protest. Harris County deputies were there to assist. The Transportation Security Administration brought dogs for security checks. The United States Secret Service is in charge of security for the event.
Among those standing in line awaiting entry into the venue were John and Celena Garcia. They are twins who drove from San Antonio. Both support Trump despite much of their family strongly opposing him.
"We're both Latino Americans supporting Trump," said John Garcia. "Might be a shock for most people. We lived in Arizona for a while so we know about the crime and everything. We're for the wall. We're for a lot of policies."
"Actually my boyfriend hates me right now because I'm here," added his sister Celena. "I was like 'you can get over it'. It's weird, my mom is really against us supporting Trump."
Trump said Thursday in Dallas he expects to do well with Hispanics despite much of the opposition to his campaign comes from those who don't agree with his policies on immigration.
Trump's rally in Dallas captured between 3,000 and 4,000 people. His public event in Atlanta on Wednesday was just as large. Both did draw relatively minor protests compared the numbers of supporters who showed up for the respective rallies and compared to protests in other cities.
Muslim convert is my guess. He’s growing our the beard.
Because the elite want total open borders and erase sovereignty to bring about their dastardly plans for a New World Ordee.
A black guy with a Trump shirt, could be carrying for self protection. He could very well be a Trump supporter. We don’t know.
I’m doubting that a check was written. Probably gold and folding cash.
Know your enemy.
These folks are with a hard leftists revolutionary movement from ... wait for it ... southern Mexico.
Guevara adherents, as their posters show
“A black guy with a Trump shirt, could be carrying for self protection. He could very well be a Trump supporter. We dont know.”
That is a possibility. We will just have to wait and see if anything else comes out.
Why was he arrested. I thought you can open carry in Texas?
I suspect a good amount of Blacks like Trump, more than the previous 10 candidates, but not the majority of them.
I thought you are allowed to carry in Texas.
Beck. Glenn Beck.
See the EZLN on the guy’s sign? That’s the Zapatista Army of National Liberation

According to the KPRC article (link is upthread), he was released in less than 30 minutes, told the attendant press that is was just a misunderstanding, and made several pro-Trump statements. Make of that what you will, but he was in fact released pretty quickly. No word of what happened to the pistol.
He is dark but he aint black. Hair is too straight and nose too thin.
When I look at his pic, I assume American Somaon or some other Polynesian lineage. He’s a bigun, My 2 cents!
This is Texas. He could have been carrying legally. If there were no 30.06 or 30.07(*) signs at an entrance to the parking garage, then there's nothing to prosecute him.
I'm not saying it was a good idea... just that it wouldn't have been illegal.
(*) For those not in TX, these numbers refer to sub-sections of the Texas Penal Code on Criminal Trespass. The law mandates a sign of a specific size and specific words to be posted at the entrance of private property, if the owner wants to prohibit concealed or open carry of a handgun, respectively.
