A nearly 15-hour filibuster led by Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut ended early Thursday morning after Republicans agreed to hold votes on gun control measures.
The Senate will vote on a measure banning gun sales to people on the terrorist watch list and a provision requiring background checks at shows and over the internet. Republicans may also offer their own gun control measures.
The filibuster comes just days after a shooting in Orlando that killed 49 people and wounded dozens others. Murphy, joined by most of his Democratic colleagues, recalled his own states loss of 27 people during the 2012 Newtown shootings and demanded a serious response.

15 hours and they sell out? Spineless traitors.

Looks like the Republicans are against consumer spending and in favor of government defaults. They’d like to scrutinize and demoralize the populace, until everyone stays home.

"
As she headed to a classified briefing Wednesday afternoon, Feinstein, who has taken the lead on the Senate Democratic gun proposal, alluded to potential problems with Toomeys plan.
Toomey is a six-month process, Feinstein said. Were looking for something that can be quick and effective and if somebody is adjudged to be a danger, that they can be denied from purchasing a weapon. "

You can rest assured that Trump will join in with the gun control efforts and move them along very rapidly. He didn’t change all of his positions just before the campaign as perceived by dupes. He’s the big Democrat surprise.
Protest vote. Make it a write-in. Make it someone who has voted consistently for privacy and against international trade interests. Or no vote.

They passed a similar law requiring background checks on gun “transfers” here in Washington State. In spite of the fact that just in order to GO to the gun shows to buy a gun you had to have a background check.
And while these stupid gun laws sound good to the idiot liberals - they aren’t good. What got sold to the voters as “Don’t let bad guys buy guns” is really a 19 PAGE long long that details who can and can’t TRANSFER a gun. So it isn’t just buying. Legally, my wife can borrow one of my guns to shoot only if we are at a “registered” shooting range. My 22 year-old son can’t use one of my guns!
Everyone must really be obeying the law though - it hasn’t been used once to convict anybody in the year or two it has been around.
However, I do know some gunsmiths that are wary of new customers. Worried they might be plants that will turn them in if they don’t do the $25 background check (both ways??) when the person “transfers” the gun to them to get worked on, and then “transfered” back to the owner. That part was not spelled out in the law. (The part about the wife borrowing the gun is spelled out. It also says how if I go out of town for the week, I can not leave her one of my firearms for protection.)

Don't vote for them--ever. They're throwing the election to Hillary. Trump, same thing. They're all radical lefties, and so are their most influential constituents (mostly recipients of government funding in every level of government, including local).

You can rest assured that Trump will join in with the gun control efforts and move them along very rapidly. You don't know that and Trump wasn't my first choice either.
But, the way our election system works in 2016, either it's going to be a President Trump or we get the evil she-bitch and 0bama policies continue or become worse.
I'm voting Freedom in November; if you want to throw away your vote on a losertarian or other also ran, go ahead.

Good. Now we can see who votes for what. Not that we at Free Republic don't have a clue. We know who and how they will vote.
They should all be hauled into court and sued for treason. With their constituents on the stand proving how he/she was in fact a lying traitorous scum bag.

My suggestion is:
Prior to the purchase of a weapon,
the buyer must eat some bacon.
This would be more efficient than the FBI.

Here's how it's been working for quite a few years. Candidates on both sides adhere to the same policies, and here's why.

The way to oppose it is to cancel the vacation and stop buying anything that you don't really need. And push for decreasing and abolishing property taxes.

So they vote, and go on record against it. Is there a big surprise?Either it passes, or the Dems get to run nasty ads against Republican Senators up for re-election in swing states. So this is win-win for Dems, lose-lose for Rs.

This whole thing doesn’t make sense to me. Isn’t a filibuster used to prevent a vote on a certain bill? If there was no voting who cares how long this guy talked.

During a filibuster, the filibustee who is speaking, can call for a vote on the legislation.
If it's 2:00AM and there are only dems present, the legislation can be sneakily passed.
