A nearly 15-hour filibuster led by Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut ended early Thursday morning after Republicans agreed to hold votes on gun control measures.
The Senate will vote on a measure banning gun sales to people on the terrorist watch list and a provision requiring background checks at shows and over the internet. Republicans may also offer their own gun control measures.
The filibuster comes just days after a shooting in Orlando that killed 49 people and wounded dozens others. Murphy, joined by most of his Democratic colleagues, recalled his own states loss of 27 people during the 2012 Newtown shootings and demanded a serious response.

McTurtle rescues Dems again!
The GOP gets more useless every day; what will our little Republican primary voters do now?
How come filibusters only work when democrats do them? Even when republicans are in the majority?
It’s funny how democrat filibusters always achieve their goal, and GOPE filibuster never achieve anything.
Anyway, I think I’m going to vote against every R on the ticket except Trump.
In NH, Kelly Ayotte is getting hammer by lefties for voting against expanded background checks.
The ‘rats are going to run wall-to-wall ads against any Republicans who vote against gun control.
WTF is wrong with the GOP? Trust the party of losers.
So, is this just a vague and dishonest way of saying "a provision banning private sales of firearms without a background check". Which would go a long way to eliminating private sales.
Well... the Republicans don’t want to be accused of “shutting down the government.”
... because.... because... uh....
Truly the Party of losers.....hate spell check.
We WILL have a list of how the Senators vote on this farce...
The GOPe better tread very carefully on this..Especially the ones facing re-election....
It is not a gun issue. It is a Muslim issue.
Yep, how many prominent Obama and Clinton opponents are suddenly going to get added to the lists. If they get away with that, then what about entire groups like NRA, GOA and Free Republic members. If the IRS can do it, so can the DHS, FBI, DOJ, etc.
You might want to judge each on their merits. It’s perfectly OK to reject a GOPe type but having Trump win while losing the house and/or senate will guarantee gridlock.
This is their final push to a one world government. First this, then. The UN will vote on their gun control measures with the US setting precedent. Then there will be a change in the constitution by political fiat. Finally a political takedown of the President, who they assume will be Trump.
Then they will start coming for the guns. Police will fan out and look for areas around the country where potential defense by an armed citizenry will need to be eradicated. Look at some of their exercises over the last couple of years as well at the ranch incident.
Useless is their bio.
THIS, however, is the beginning of the end of the 2nd Amendment.
What comes along after this crap is tyranny and oppression.
