The Catholic Bishop of St. Petersburg, Fla, has blamed Catholic disapproval of homosexual acts for the brutal slaughter of 49 people in the Pulse nightclub on Sunday.
In a blogpost Monday, Bishop Robert Lynch said that Catholicism “targets” and “often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people.” The seed of contempt, he said, turns into hatred, “which can ultimately lead to violence.” Unless this attitude changes, he states, “we can expect more Orlandos.”
In his post, the bishop made no attempt to explain how a 29-year-old Muslim who never stepped foot in a Catholic Church would have been motivated to carry out his deed by a supposed Catholic “contempt” for homosexuality.
It is “religion,” Lynch wrote, “including our own, which targets, mostly verbally, and also often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people. Attacks today on LGBT men and women often plant the seed of contempt, then hatred, which can ultimately lead to violence.”
In his statement, Bishop Lynch also takes issue with modern interpretations and applications of the Second Amendment.
“Our founding parents had no knowledge of assault rifles which are intended to be weapons of mass destruction,” he said. In crafting the second amendment to the Constitution, “they thought only of the most awkward of pistols and heavy shotguns.”

i’m Catholic, but...
the Catholic church has been infiltrated by satanists and homosexuals. of course, Lucifer has been targeting the church for 2000 years, so it’s no surprise that people serving him (wittingly or not) have entered the church ranks to corrupt the teachings of Christ. but the level of this infiltration has increased exponentially since Vatican II.

These bishops do not hate themselves. In fact they love themselves and their homosexual compatriots.
They have contempt for the faithful Catholics who sacrifice to keep the parishes going. They have contempt for Catholics who try to raise their families and pas on the faith to their children.
But the bishops love themselves and their homosexual friends.
This guy is disgusting and was the bishop when Terri Shindler Schiavo’s family needed help. Pope John Paul II at the time spoke out for Terri’s life, but not this Florida bishop.
Bishop Lynch is evil. He’s evidently retired now.
I wondered why so few Catholics were speaking out in Florida. Other Christian groups were there, but not many Catholics.

He might have been fired, but John Paul died around the same time as Terri. He was a good Pope, but was very sick during the last part of Terri’s life. Bishop Lynch got to do whatever he wanted. Lynch is an evil man.

You don’t have to pay. It’s voluntary. I have a good parish in Manhattan. I donate to them and some very conservative Catholic convents and fraternities.

Oh, I agree. I just want people to understand who we are dealing with here. This bishop sided with the husband of Terri Schaivo and campaigned — throwing the weight and implied teaching of the Catholic Church behind the efforts — to have Terri Schaivo murdered (as she was) by dehydration. When outraged Catholics in Florida alerted the Vatican, the Vatican publicly rebuked Lynch. But Pope John II was Pope then, and if Lynch wasn't “fired” under PJII, he sure as hell won't be fired by Pope Francis the Fraud.
But make sure people know what we're dealing with when it comes to Bishop Lynch: he helped murder Terri Schaivo, he helped murder Terri Schaivo, he helped murder Terri Schaivo.
